I have owned this driver for two months and I use this tool once a week. I have used this tool to drive 3"screws, lags, I have repaired dining room chairs and replaced my lawn mower blade in the last two weekends. I am impressed by the power of the tool and the ability to make these jobs manageable and sometimes even fun! This run time on the battery is pretty good to decent as it was able to handle 40 or so 3" screws when working in my garage. For the money this tool cannot be beat or closely matched. I am very impressed and would recommend this tool to you just as I have to my whole family. Whether you get it for sale or at full price it is a deal! My complaint is that the battery swivels too easily as it barely stays in place when the driver is rotated. This is annoying when needing to move the tool into to tight spaces, but seriously this tool is impressive at such a cheap price, annoying or not this tool should be in your tool belt.

I remodeled two rooms this summer. Bought the reversible hammer drill (#68169) for drilling concrete floor for tap con screws for the framing. It worked with no problems. Eats up the concrete. Got the impact driver (#67028) for driving screws in drywall, ceiling brackets, doors and some framing. It was a life saver, making the job much easier than otherwise. Bought the cordless saw (#67026) for cutting framing and trim. It too worked very well. Bought two batteries (#67029), and charger (#67031) and this timer [@]) to charge them for three hours at a time. Tips: batteries run out fast if you run the tools constantly, but if you use them just as you need them they are reliable, e.g. cutting framing as you need it. If impact driver is struggling, it is because battery is weak, even if it does not sound weak. Charge for three hours at a time. Other reviewers have noted that longer charging ruins batteries. It took two months to finish my work, and these Drillmaster tools were a life saver and well worth the money spent. Very good tools at a very good price.

I bought this driver last week, and have already fallen in love with it! Over the last two days, I have been driving about 200-3" screws into pressure treated lumber with no problem whatsoever.
The battery does not last terribly long, but I bought 3 batteries almost two years ago to use with the 3/8" drill and the cut out tool, and so I always have a fairly "hot" one on hand.
I like the led light on the base of the unit, and the fact that the battery swivels completely around to accomodate tight places.
If you have any doubt about this driver, buy it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

For the price, this Harbor Freight (Drill Master) impact driver rocks!

Pros:
Price - For half the price of a name brand kit, you can buy several batteries and chargers.
LED light - Can be useful
Trigger - Variable speed when in non-impact mode
Power - Meets my needs.

Cons:
Charger - There are several complaints about not having a timer (and the potential for overcharging). I also use the timer suggestion without issue. If the charger dies, I wonder if you can use one of those universal 22 volt adapters, with multiple connection options (for laptops?).
Lack of case - at this price, this is really not a complaint but an FYI that you may want to buy a HF tool bag.

Since my last review (Mar/12), I've gone through 10 lbs of 3-1/2" square-bit deck screws. This thing is a champ. I especially appreciate how light & easy-to-use it is in awkward & hard-to-get-at spaces. I also find the built-in worklight handy. I thought it would be just another goofy gadget on the tool but working after dark or underneath a porch or deck, it's right handy.

Still wish the charger had an auto cut-off but the lack of it sure isn't a deal-breaker by any means.

I got this based on the reviews. The big brand impact drivers are all well over $100 without a battery (although a lot of them have 1/3 more torque). To be able to pick up a driver with a battery and charger for about [$]? "Well, I'll keep the receipt", right? It seems like the Drill Master items seem to be the tools to get from HF. I have their circular saw and it's definitely proved itself.I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of features not mentioned on the box or the display. There's an LED target light that either comes on when you pull the trigger or you can push a button on the base to leave it on. The base also swivels where the battery attaches so you can move it out of the way of obstacles. Charged it up (used the timer trick like a lot of people) and set to work. I used it to drive a 5/16 x 4" lag bolts through my deck frame and into the side of the house. It didn't break a sweat and it handled very nicely, even one-handed on a ladder. I'm very satisfied.

This driver works well and the price is right. I use it with 1/4" sockets and smaller sized 3/8" sockets for home and automotive use. This is a great tool as I hate cranking a ratchet or wrench by hand. This makes fast work to assemble or disassemble and it has more power than I thought it would. The battery swivels around to get out of the way for tight areas and it even has a light.
CON: The battery charger has no timer! I had to put it on a cheap timer so I did not cook the battery. This is a five star driver with a two star charger (sold separately).

iv have this drill for a month, i work in hvac and use it everday. so far this is a great tool. the light alone is really handy and i have co workers that have spent 3to4 times the amount on their impact and it doesnt come with a light. great power, good battery light and so far quite durable. not the best on the market nor will it get the respect compared to name brands, but for the money and what you get this is hands down the best drill for the money. i am really satisfied with this impact drill.

i was skeptical and surprised...this little guy really works...i've never used an impact driver before this one and amazed at how they work...it seems to get to impact mode a little faster than i would like but when it gets there it delivers...it's a little noisy,but you are working (you have to make some noise)...the name brand drivers are at least 10 times the price

I love this impact driver. it has a lot of power and when pulling apart an engine, after i break a bolt loose this thing pulls it right out, saves a ton of time rather than ratcheting like crazy, especially on long bolts. And also it has a really cool feature. the light. it shines directly where the bolt or screw is so you can see what your doing when the lighting is less than good. and its a very bright light for the size...
