Saw a review in an auto magazine that doesn't take ad money. Thought I would try it myself on a nasty junkyard ashtray... Unbelievable, if I had taken the ashtray to the sandblaster it would not have come out cleaner... Also the pits, with holes in the bottom, didn't get blown through with the air pressure so I can just solder them up- absolutly awesome... did you know it comes in large quantities- if your working on a large project just buy a bunch and work on other projects while it does the hard nasty work for you.

It is best to have some time before the part is needed. It took 16 oz two weeks for the ashtray but lighter surface rust came off in a half hour.

Make sure to wash the parts with a good detergent soap first as oils will protect the rust.

Was so so close to throwing in the trash an entire toolbox of tools because the toolbox had been left out in the rain,snow and salt for months. The salt had leeched into the box after we stacked our winter supply of salt on top of it. The box was completely filled with water for months,and when opened, it looked like a stew of tools, rust and oil. I let it dry out over the summer, but the rust was overwhelming everything. I did a last minute internet search on "How to Remove Rust" and came across a recommendation for Evapo-Rust. I soaked overnight all the tools that I could in one gallon of Evapo-Rust, and to my total amazement, the Rust was all gone. If there were any remaining small spots of rust, I just wiped it away with a scotch-brite pad. The tools look like they did the day I brought them.

I bought this stuff a couple years ago and never used it. I dig old dumps and found a license plate from 1956 that just looked like a piece of rust. I have a friend that cleans old metal dug stuff up with oxalic(sp) acid and had given him the plate to clean for me. He never got around to doing it & just gave it back to me. I put it in the stuff last night and this morning the plate was yellow! Not in the greatest of shape, but darned if that was more than I was expecting! Meanwhile, I was dropping everything rusty I could find around the house into the same mix. Tools look like brand new! I also frequent the auction and buy rusty stuff from time to time. Now I can throw all those cool small rusty beer openers, tools, etc in and get nice clean things to re-sell with no work! It's magic!

I have an M38A1 Army Jeep that needed seats. I found a pair that was rusted up prety bad. I couldn't soak the seate in it so I took a 1 foot square of towel and soaked it in Evapo-Rust and put in on the seats. it took a little work but all the rust is gone. I also removed a bunch of rusted bolts and small parts and soaked them and they came out a good as new.

it just ate all the rust out of that old rusted mc tank. its beautiful. it didnt harm anything ie. paint. or metal just eats that rust up.

I was not sure about this product so I purchase the quart size. I a word...WOW! It has paid for itself by removing the rust from box of tools left outside in the rain. So of the tools where cover with 80% rust, now they look almost new.

I will be going out to get the gallon size to de-rust everything I have around the house.

I purchased a few tools from an auction and I found some rusty tools in a bucket that were so rusty that I couldn't tell if they were metrics or fractions. I didn't want to throw the tools away just because of the rust. I was told that they were too far gone to be saved. I searched the internet to see how to remove rust and this was one of the products mentioned. When I found out that Harbor Freight carried Evapo-Rust that sealed the deal! My only recommendation is if you have the funds, you should buy the gallon size and buy two tall, clear plastic Spaghetti/Pasta Containers. One container should be used to leave the rusty item(s) in, which you can re-use over and over. The other container should be used if you want to put a clean protective coating on the tools. See instructions on the back of Evap-Rust container. You don't need to fill the containers completely full to remove the rust; you can put just enough Evap-Rust and lay the spaghetti container on its side to cover a few tools…one at a time.

This is the best product to remove rust that I have ever seen. The only thing I don't like is that you have to soak the rusted items, and with some things that would really take a lot of the product. However, I have cleaned rust with it with a tooth brush and keep soaking the tooth brush, and it will work, but it takes a lot more time.

The directions say to soak items so that's what I did. De-rusted about 35 lb.s of tools, 4 cast iron frying pans before seeming to slow down its rust removal properties. That may be just from the cold. I'll retry it as the weather warms. Great stuff. The cast iron looked like new iron after cleaning. I washed the pans, seasoned them & they cook like they're new. No bad taste at all.

I love the fact that you can re-use this stuff, I have cleaned up parts and tools that would have been replaced before I found this product. If you are skeptical, just try the smaller one quart size and then you after you've found that it does exactly what they claim, you can buy the bigger size and save a lot of money on old rusted tools or anything with rust that you need to de-rust. You won't be disappointed!
