I bought this sander to shape a cub scout "blastcar" (the new generation of Pinewood derby) with my son. We started with jig saw and orbital cutter but there is only so much you can let your 6-9 year old do themselves. This sander is much safer for kids to use and lots of fun. You could actually shape a block of wood into a car from start to finish with this sander. Affordable for the occasional user like us.

I bought this sander from recommendations I read on different welding blogs. I use it to sharpen the tunsten tips for my TIG gun. It does a great job. I have also used it to sharpen my knives to a very sharp and sturdy edge. I also do Taxidermy and I have several habitat bases I have to build from scratch and I know that it will be a breeze with this sander. You can't go wrong for any price, but the sale price made it a plus.

I got mine about 3 years ago. I use it mostly to touch up lathe bits. It does a nice job, and it won't eat you up like a grinder can if you slip.

I use it mostly for luthiery work, it works great for dealing with bone nuts and graphite nut rough shaping and also working on wood and plastic

I bought this sander knowing in advance that the plastic adjuster handle would break and sure enough, it came pre-broken. But it's a non-issue because there are numerous work-arounds for tightening the angle adjuster. This sander shines at reaching areas that your larger belt and disc sanders cannot, due to their general bulk.

The unit is quiet (sits on rubber feet) and runs well. It also has a set screw to allow you to adjust the table to exactly 90 degrees. You'll need a small allen wrench to do this and there was not one included in the box. A few reviewers noted that the table was pitched at a sideways angle but mine didn't have this problem. The sander is also a nice green color and is easy on the eyes.

I also bought a finer grit belt from HF and found that it was easy to R&R and seems adequate for sanding wood. As an added bonus, this identical sander is available at at least one name brand tool website for double the price.

Bought this to make knife handles. Works great! Will try and grind some blades too. The zirconia belts last a long time!... The drive wheel was loose when I bought it.Just needed to tighten the set screw. Been working flawless ever since, and for the price I give it 5 stars.

i use mine for making knives works great found some really fine grit belts also works great for polishing. sands handles for knives just fine

I own 2 of these and will purchase another.

I used this sander for sharpening which it excells at. I use both 1X30 sanding belts in course to fine grit order and 2 leather belts for final polishing and honing.

This thing works superbly for this.

Nice polished sharp convex grinds on everything from machetes to tomahawks.

Buy one.

I read the reviews and was prepared for the worse. For the price, I couldn't imagine I would get a great tool but I figured it would suffice for the light sanding tasks I had for it. I was amazed with the quality of the unit. Other than the table, it was completely assembled. I powered it up and it ran unanchored to my workbench with virtually no vibration. Tracking was simple to adjust. This little unit is much more than I was expecting. I love it.

I am pleased with the sander. On [@] I found that they run about 80 bux. I'm sure they are better grade but I will only use mine about 2 times a month. I sharpen knife blades and I'm pleased. I have used it alot the last 2 days sharpening my knife and seems like everyone else's since I have told them how good it works. For the price, get it.
