I couldn't say enough good things about these magnets because I use them almost everyday for varieties of purposes, one of the thing I did was bought bunch of them and glue it to my extensions so I can work on my cars and home hold items easier!

These are the specified 5/16 (0.3125) diameter, but only 5/64 (0.078) thick, not the specified 1/8 (0.125). Regardless, their diameter to thickness ratio makes them plenty strong both magnetically and physically when used properly. All rare earth magnets are brittle and there is nothing that can be done about that. Never let them slam together from a large distance as they will crack or chip. When used as magnetic latches, drill a hole for them of a very slightly greater depth than the thickness of the magnets. This is standard procedure for magnetic latches.

I have had many magnets before but never rare earth magnets. Extremely powerful. No they don't flake off or break. The guy got the 98405 magnets and claims they are rare earth - one of the 99 percenters would you guess.

I bought them to hold the roof on a bird house so I won't have to remove screws to get inside.

I purchased these in store and they are perfect for craft projects. I found that all the magnets I've purchased at craft stores, even at [@] were not strong enough for my paper projects. I purchased these and they are just right.They are small enough and strong enough to hold my paper projects with ease. I've not had probems with them chipping or flaking and the size is just right.

Neodymium magnets are so versatile it's crazy! I wish they carried more variety of shapes though. I'm not sure what grade these are but I'm going to guess they're N35 based on other magnets that I've purchased. Great product for the price. I didn't experience any flaking of the coating either.

I bought these at my local Harbor Freight, and WOW! The package says these magnets made from neodymium are 5x stronger than samarium-cobalt rare earth magnets, and I believe it. They're smaller than a pencil eraser, they hold on tight, and just super handy to have around the house.
