I made a pile driver and used this hoist to lift 600 pound cast iron block single line, and drop down guides to drive in piling, which is in excess of rated 550 pound capacity. I run it until it shuts off from heating, five minutes later I am at it again. It worked flawlessly for thousands of lifts and finely ond day the cable broke so I replaced the cable. It has sat out in the rain for days and still faithfully lifts my cast iron weight and is still driving piling. Love It - this is a good machine.

works great in transfering me from my bed to wheelchair and from wheelchair to bed by using a sling for disabled .works as good or better than a hoyer lift

The price was right for a lift that will handle 1000#. The cable is the worst quality that I've ever seen, and twisted and kinked after one use [nowhere near weight capacity, using block lift], and the lift block is also poor quality and flips over with no weight on it during spool-down, causing the now kinked cable to catch on it and twist up. May work OK with some replacement higher quality cable that won't twist and get tangled on the spool. The switch pendant is the poorest quality plastic that you would see on cheap plastic toys, and I'm sure that the switch inside is too. The motor housing, gearbox, and frame look fairly good for the price. OK for a quick job or intermittent use, but will need some work to make it a decent lift. It runs smoothly and lifts without issues, except for the cable and block, which will give you one good lift before you have to work on it.

They are great for the price you pay for them since anything comparable, capacity wise, is 3-4 times the price. However, you should look elsewhere if you are looking for a hoist that can work and last for a long time. We bought 2 of these hoists. Installation was a pain since they are VERY heavy. It took 6 months for us to get situated and on firat use there was a horrible periodic grinding noise from the gearbox assembly. After contacting Harbor Freight we are told that the gearbox needs to be disassembled and greased. Already out of warranty since it only has a 90 day warranty. Upon checking closer it appears that they are right and the gearboxes are all leaking oil. Now we have to take them all down which will take all of a weekend and figure out how to "disassemble" and "grease them", god knows how long that will take. They are made [*] looks like with no quality control. No wonder they only have a 90 day warranty. I think we'll just take them down and pay more for the real deal elsewhere instead of having to "disassemble" these every 90 days! These are good if you need to have a temporary install and use a hoist for a very short time and then throw it away.
