Bought this a few months ago and used it to dig 30 holes for retaining wall posts. The 4" auger is the perfect size for 4 X 4 treated posts or fence posts. The soil where I live is very rocky so it was rough going. I had to use a bar many times to help break the rocks loose. There was an area that was excavated down to about 4 feet. That soil was pure clay and the auger cut through it like butter. I drilled those holes in under a minute each.
The choke on my unit was labeled wrong ( off is on and visa versa ). A little annoying but no big deal. It has a primer bulb in addition to the choke. A couple squeezes of the primer and full choke and it always started on the 2nd or 3rd pull when cold. Usually started on first pull after warm.
Bottom line...how well this works for you depends largely on what type of soil you have. Rocks are the enemy. But even in rocky soil this thing can help save your back.

This auger actually works well for its purpose. when I first looked at it, it looked like some toy since the plastic parts were really cheap quality and felt like it would break easily. they should improve the quality of the plastic parts for the trigger and on/off switch. it was able to dig post holes really quick without any issues since the ground is full of large rocks and hard clay the deeper you dig, this is so much better than using a post hole digger which takes forever and gets stuck when hitting rocks.

Just bought your 60622 post hole auger powerhead, and also got the 95973 6" bit for it. Had to modify the 'business end' of the bit just a tad, though, but after 10 minutes of shaping with a grinder: WOW! 50 post holes in 2 hours!

Seems the sharp edge was not cutting--there was a bit of metal underneath that was causing the auger to just turn on my hardpan clay. Once I shaved that down to where the end of the bit resembled a wood bit, in other words the cutting edge actually CUT instead of skipping along on the packed dirt, it dug like a friggin' gopher!

Bottom line is, it was not the powerhead's fault. This thing saved several backs today!

My wife and I have planted dozens of trees and bushes all over our property and yard. We even used this for corner fence posts at our gated driveway.

Not the most durable item for everyday use, but it is perfect for occational use around the home without killing your wallet.

I purchased this because I had a lot of holes to dig and was too lazy to dig them by hand. I looked at several others and they were all way more then I wanted to spend (I'm not that lazy).
Anyways, hwen I got it home, I assembled it and got ready to start it. That's when I found I needed 50:1 gas/oil mix. I also found that I needed 75-90w Gear oil for the gear box. So off I went, back out to the store for this stuff.
Once I finally got everything filled, I went to start it, it is really hard to pull. Don't know it's this is normal for this machine or not.
Once I got it started it dug into hard clay like a knife through butter. Dut the hole with no problems at all.
This machine will probably not hold up to the day to day use of a contractor, but for use around the house it is great.

bought this back in nov to put up some post.very hard to start it did finaly start.later that same day tried to star it again and the robe handle came out of the holder.no part replacement according to service dept.now im stuck with a peace of junk

Started leaking gear oil from case. Early on, 2nd tank of fuel wasn't even finished yet. Upon dissassembly, found that seal in worm gear shaft (clutch drum) was bad, caused by sand cast gears that didn't even have the sand removed from them before machine was assembled. Buyer beware, you'd probably be better off to rent a unit than to buy this one.
