I've owned this charger almost 4 years now. I've had zero problems with it except for the label on the amp gauge curled up and the needle hits it. It still charges and maintains. Unlike what another commenter said, it does have auto shut off, and then every minute or two so it will test the battery voltage and pulse the battery momentarily. Looking to buy my second one soon. I'm hoping it works as well as the first one I purchased. Paul W. Pjwnfl[@]

This charger worked for both conventional batteries and Optima batteries as well. So far it's been a great product and I don't see any problems with it. Recommend to try this first as opposed to buying a $200 battery replacement when the original looses charge.

My mother's Mercedeze had not been driven for a long time. Obviously, when I went to start the car, it didn't. Did some research and found a cheap battery float charger on sale at HF; so I headed down the freeway to purchase it (in a different car of course). When I got there, they were sold out of the cheaper version, so I ended up upselling myself and bought this 2/6 6/12 Chicago Electric version. Great buy! The instructions were very easy to understand and "calming" for a person who has had bad experiences with batteries and injuries in the past. I jump started the car first and drove it for a few minutes so the battery was not completely dead awaiting the chargers clamps. Plugged the unit in, disconnected the car battery from the factory cables, clamped on the Chiago Electric Charger, set the switch to 12v, and let her sit overnight.
The next day the charger had fully charged the cars battery, which hadn't had full juice in years without being jumped, and was just sipping when thirsty on the trickle charge that had kicked in.
That was over 6 months ago now, and ever since then, the ol' Mama's Mercedeze has been running like a champ! Ahem, or as my Mum would say, "Purring like a kitty."

It works quite well. A basic charger, but so what? It does a good slow trickle and a good moderate trickle. Be sure to watch your charge times, as it doesn't have auto shutoff. Catch it on sale, with a coupon.

I have used both this and the next larger of this series of and on for many years. They do not like high hunmidity. Switches and gauges give up in our Gulf Coast Humitdy pretty fast. Needs better quality swithes/gauge. But still agood unit at a bargain price.

Bought one of these about a year ago and it's still going strong. I'm buying another despite the negative reviews since I had a good experience with this product.

We use it often with our "fleet". Would not trust it for full time use, but it will bring a couple of 31's back from -50% in about 24 hrs. Would buy another if it died, have had it about 3 yrs.

small compact, easy to use. Does what it does very well. Still recommended to buy the extended warranty.
