I waited to write this due to one individuals comment about his pump not working the second year. Every time I used it I let the water drain from the housing, which is a good thing according to his comment. Used it again for my second year yesterday and it fired up on the second pull of the cord. I use this pump to irrigate my front yard and it moves the water fast. I shopped around at the box stores and a few independants, but everything was about twice the amount and more of this pump. I use a 2" hose, but the parts I picked up at a sprinkler store instead of a box store because they carry specialized fittings. I only use it about an hour a week 5 months out of the year, and I hope it lasts me plenty years to come. If I didn't use this my water bill a month would almost pay for this thing so I can't go wrong.

I bought this pump about 4 years (the older central machinery version, They look the same in the picture just different paint job) and this little pump has bailed me out (literally) a handful of times when my yard flooded up to the house from heavy rains. I keep it on stand-by year round and do basic preventative maintenance on it. So far it has fired up every time I have needed.

The only thing that threw me what when I first got it I could not get it to start. I checked everything and found that there are 2 locations to fill the crankcase with oil (not one like I assumed) once I filled the second half of the crankcase with oil it fired right up. So I guess the low oil sensor works like a champ.

Actually, I didn't buy this pump. I bought the model next to it, but they no longer sell it. It had the plastic housing. We used it for months to circulate oil from one tank to another. We probably pumped 10,000 barrels with it. The employee forgot and left water in it one cold night and it froze and damaged the housing seal. Needs a little repair, but not the pump's fault. These are WELL worth the money.

I used this pump to get rid of an over abundance of water in my septic lagoon after getting 3" of rain overnight. My ground does NOT perk well, and it's been too cold for the lagoon to evaporate to any degree. This much rain causes all the plumbing to back up, not a good thing. Well, one bucket of water to prime the pump, and 2 hours of pumping, and all is well again.

The only down side I can see is the air intake system for the engine is made of fairly light duty plastic, and is fairly easily broken. The first pump I brought home had been damaged in transit and had to be returned. All that plastic was in a heap in the bottom of the box. So, fair warning, open the box in the store! This cost me a 70 mile round trip. NOT the pumps fault...my fault for not looking at something that has made an 8000 mile journey to get to my hands.
As to the people that down graded this pump because they don't know anything about pumps, even to something as basic as draining it after use, or not reading the box to see what comes in it...get a life. This pumps moves all the water you could ever want, and does so quickly and efficiently.

I use the pump to pump water from low areas in my back yard in the spring, Starts on first pull. It make very little noise. Appears to be well made.

What a disappointing purchase!
The 212 cc Clear water pump comes with hose clamps that won't fit over the hose (suction or discharge), no hose couplers, clamping rings or gaskets (suction or discharge) and have fun trying to find 2" I'd suction hose. The strainer is too small for 2" I'd suction hose.
I finally found suction hose at a large spa supply store but had to soak the end in boiling water, slide it over a Coke bottle, let cool, and remove before it would fit over the threaded discharge connector. Purchase 2" (2) straps to secure hose to connector on suction side with one for the strainer. Wrap strainer connector with duct tape to size-up the connector to 2".
Purchase a 2"+ id rubber plumbing connector w/ straps (2) so you can attach the 2" discharge hose (purchased from Harbor Freight). To do this find a 2"od pipe (4" long) and attach it to the plumbing connector with strap, attach the other end to threaded discharge connector of pump.
Harbor freight, if you are going to sell pumps, also sell or include ALL the correct needed parts. What use is a pump that can't pump water?

Have not run it as the high altitude kit is needed and is on back order until May 24 and if not installed will VOID warrantry.The part number was not included and took 3 days of calling to get it.Customer service was not service.

We bought this for my mom last summer. Her basement is prone to flooding when the power fails and there is heavy rain. We tested it out down at the pond and it worked great. Pumps strong with high capacity.
Then we drained the pump head and put it in the basement (on a shelf!) for when needed.
Hurricane Sandy came and power failed and when she tried to use the pump it was locked solid. (she'd 2 hrs away)Would not turn over with the pull cord. Basement flooded. I could not get there for a few days and by that time power came back on and her two 1hp sump pumps got the water out.
I finally opened the pump housing today and found the impeller had rusted solid to the pump shroud. Turns out the impeller and shroud are cast iron, and the pump housing is aluminum. Lots of galvanic corrosion too. I cleaned it all up and it is working correctly again.
YOU MUST DRAIN THE PUMP AND DRY IT OUT BEFORE STORAGE or it might leave you stranded when you need it most.
