I got mine for power outages, mostly, but also for its small size - portable enough to use at a construction site. One man can move it, two can carry it without a problem.
Enough power for whole house under 'no commercial power' times - gives melights and normal appliances, oil-fired furnace w/dom. hot water supply, well pump, minimal kitchen (no oven) and no electric dryer. My TV and PC are protected by a UPS and an isolation transformer just in case.
I do see a little 'surge' in the incandescent lighting when the unit is running at a reasonable load... enough that you notice it, but not a really big deal.
Normal run for whole house is fine; I was concerned that it might be too much when the well kicked in, and that does give a big load and makes a noticable flicker, but never a stall-out or failure.
Be aware of the 13A breakers that the system has. As some other commentor wrote, it's two 1600 watt generators ganged together... but it does the trick for me just fine.
It is less loud than some other generators I've heard, and does have a long run time.
I've got about 60 hours of run time on it and I'm VERY pleased with this purchase.

I use this generator bowfishing at night and it easily powers 2600 watts of lights and a radio. It claims that it is 70 decibels which it very well might be but when you are in a boat with it it can be somewhat loud. Built a sound box for it and not a complaint to be had. Runs great and is durable.

I have used this generator out my jobsites and it works great. Starts very easily and it built pretty tough. I would buy it again!!

This is my main power source for my house in the winter because i live off grid and there is not enough sun for my solar! I have had this generator running about 8 hours everyday for the last 3 months for a total of around 720+ hours! I am writing this review with my generator powering my internet and laptop and lights and fridge at this moment! This generator has not failed me! Better then my Northstar/Briggs and stratton! oh and its quieter as well!

Had to add oil before stsrting unit. Oil dipstick is in a difficult spot. Unit started up after five pulls. Tested unit and it easealy powered up my gas boiler, computer, refrigerator and lights all over the house. It responded fast to varying loads. I'm happy with it..

Sandy came and I lost power for 2 weeks. This baby started right up and powered my house, other then the electric hot water heater which caused the unit to grind and make sounds that scared me during the power outage. Not wanting to risk breaking the generator during the emergency, I decided to shut off the hot water heater. It also was not able to power my wall oven without causing stress, so the oven was unhooked from the panel. Otherwise, we ran all our lights, 3 televisions, 3 tivos, a playstation and our oil heater blower which ran on electricity. My only fear is the platic choke which I can imagine will break over time and of course the idea of relying on an oversees made generator which cost me 250 sheckels or so in an emergency. Thinking about selling this and stepping up to a larger one so the water heater woudl work. No problem with Preditor at all. In fact, the family has welcomed it into our family as a member after its amazing results and 2 weeks non stop work without a burp.

Ran my straight for about a week after hurricane Sandy hit. I got mine in the summer time when it was on sale for under $300. You can't really go wrong with this, you can buy 3 or 4 of these for the same price of a name brand one. Only down side I see is getting parts in the future. Other then what I have read on some of the other reviews go out and buy some more fuel line for this.

First pull out of the box and this baby fired up! I have heat and hot water again!! I highly recommend this unit!!
