When I unpacked this unit, I was certain there was a mistake. The fit and finish is impeccable. All the castings are smooth, the paint is perfect. It looks way too good to be so inexpensive. I had some issues with the choke initially, the stenciling seems to me to be counter intuitive, but the manual cleared up the confusion. Filling the crankcase was a little tedious, would work better with a funnel that has a hose attached. It fired right up, and ran for an hour with a 100w bulb attached before I had to put it away. After the 3 hour breakin, I started loading it up to see how well it responds. At 2000w constant load, I can plug in an induction motor ( drill, buffer, jig saw, sander ) and it only very faintly changes the light output on incandescent bulbs. I see no pulsing under any load. This unit has definitely exceeded my expectations, and is an amazing value.

I received the unit promptly, it is smaller than I expected (that's good) and almost ready to go out of the box. Oil Fill is a tricky maneuver due to placement but insignificant - get a small funnel. At 15 degrees outside, it took several pulls to start the first time - probably due to gas not in the carb yet, so I waited 2 mins. Choke instructions correct? After gas at carb, it started with an easy pull. Shut it off, let it sit, tried again, always on first pull.
I let it run for about an hour with a little load on it - lights and some power tools. It seemed to pulse in power output just a little bit, but voltage was good, 122.3v. I have a Constant Voltage Regulator after it for electronics stuff, so I'm not too concerned. The pulsing can be seen in incandescent lights attached.
I'm thrilled with the price; the delivery, the 120/240 and DC output. All I need is reliable back-up power when the lines go down. Once in a while, power at a remote site.
I was surprised with the 13A-rated AC ckt breakers - that may make it hard for some high-load devices to start - I will have to see how that goes under real operation - I have a well which this may be an issue.
Running it for an hour burned off any paint smell, and it definitely is quieter than my tractor or my snowblower, so that's great. Now I expect to have it online several times this winter with downed power lines, and now I'm ready.

Starts right up. Bought this last summer and gave it a 20 hour break in..Really used it during/after hurricane sandy..Performed flawlessly.Heat, fridge, freezer, tv, dvd player , well pump..I tried the hot water heater but it didnt have enough power..I didnt try the electric stove..I am thinking of upgrading to the 8000+ watt unit..

BOUGHT THIS LAST YEAR AFTER THE HURRICANE AND NO ELECTRIC FOR 6 DAYS. THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A WHILE BEFORE I USED IT. WRONG. HURRICANE SANDY. BROKE IT OUT JUST BEFORE THE STORM GASSED IT UP, AND GOT HER READY. WELL I RAN IT 24/7 FOR 10 STRAIGHT DAYS. IT RAN 3 REFRIDGES, HEAT SYSTEM(HAVE GAS HOT AIR), 2 BIG SCREEN TVS W SURROND SYSTEMS AND NUMURUS LOW WATT LITES. IT NEVER MISSED A BEAT. POWERED WAY MORE THAN I THOUGHT.EVEN RAN THE BATHROOM FAN FOR SHOWERS! YES ITS NOT A S QUIET AS A HONDA BUT I DIDNT SPEND A 1000+ . ITS QUIETER THAN A LOT OF INEXPENSIVE GENS ON THE MARKET. FILLED IT UP AT 8AM AND 8 PM EVERY DAY ,NEVER RAN OUT.ONCE RAN IT FOR 14 1/2 HOURS AND STILL DID NOT RUN OUT. GOT MY MONEYS WORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A WORK HORSE! I bought this a few days before SANDY based on "a funny feeling" that it was going to get bad. Best investment ever. It started on the first pull from day one and never quit during the 13 days I was without power. I mistakenly ran it beyond the suggested oil change point but I used high-quality oil (suggest you do likewise) and this little puppy ran as smooth as could be. I used it to run a few lights,frig, microwave, HDTV,DVR, cable box, electric fry pan and intermittently a space heater and electric tea pot. The unit never skipped a beat. I am having my house professionally back-wired so I don't have to run extension cords everywhere. I hope I never need it again but if I do,I'm glad I have this unit.

Right out of the box, checked for defects, loose parts, added oil and gas. Primed fuel and it started at the first try. Very quiet, Wife was not aware that it was running in the backyard.

I bought this unit because of the weather and power outages. Tonight 9/18/2012, our power went out so I used the generator for the first time. i started it right up and pluged in the extension cords to run lights, tv, and charge cell phones. I am glad I bought this unit it is absolutely great. I am recommending this unit to friends that sat in the dark.

I purchased this to have back up power for a refrigerator and a few lights in the event of an earthquake. I removed it from the box, added oil and gas, and it started on the first pull. It is loud but I expected it be much louder. This thing had no problem powering my large side by side refrigerator, a shop light and a power drill at the same time. This does exactly what I need and the price was right.
