This is a great tool for home or professional use. I would add one caveat with all Harbor Freight tools. As soon as you get home, take them out of the box and check them out, clean, remove factory oils/lubes and lubricate them with quality oils/lube. If you get a defective one, return it to the store and get another. Harbor Freight has a very generous and friendly return policy, so don't deal with a bad tool. Doing this, I've never ended up with a bad Harbor Freight tool.

I've used this tool to completely refurbish my 1986 aluminum bass boat. Riveting 1/8" thick aluminum sheets with 3/16" thick, 1/2" long closed end rivets was no big deal to this tool. Really saved my arm.

If you buy this tool and don't clean and lube it according to instructions, then it may not work properly for you. But that's your operator not following the instructions, not a problem with the tool. I suspect this is the case with those purchasers who rated the tool low and were unable to get work done with the tool.

read the manual, it states will not full stroke if you have not filled the hydraulic (not air) cylinder with hydraulic oil to the top of the tube. I filled the tube just level and put base of air cylinder back on, has worked perfectly with very little effort. It will hold the rivet pin in the tool instead of ejecting when putting the rivet in the vertical down position, but is easy to remove by hand. My only negative comment is that I did not buy this tool years ago and save myself lots of work.... THIS IS A GREAT TOOL

This rivet gun gets used on a daily basis in a fabrication shop. It works great, plenty of power to set rivets in aluminum, steel and stainless. I've had this rivet gun for over a year with no issues and a bunch of rivets set.

I was interested because athritus is making it difficult for me to run a hand rivet gun many times. This thing is great.





The only problems I had were the bottom cover to the air cylinder was on so tight I had to use my (harbor freight) impact wrench to get it off the first time and the instruction manual was not clear on how much hydraulic oil to put into the unit.





I did fill the unit up so the oil covered the "structure" in the bottom (at you hold it to fill it) top if it were right side up and reinstalled the piston and cover. On the first shot I think all the excess oil I put in blasted out the vent below the trigger. Good thing I was working on something that it didn't matter that I had a couple of ounces of hydraulic jack oil on it!





It seems to stop blowing oil as it reduces the level to what it should be to begin with.





Great tool for the money, impressed with the extra parts and tools that come with it.

I pulled apart my snowmobile and had to drill out many rivets. I needed to put steel rivets back in to the sled after replacing a key component. I tried using a hand tool pop riveter and broke two of them (because 3/16" steel rivets are tough to pull). This tool blasted through the rivets in no time with zero effort. It was a lot of fun to use. I can't wait until my next rivet project because I know how easy it's going to be.

Just installed some 3/16 " rivets on the underside of the dash, on my 1995 Corvette. I tried to do it using a hand pop rivet gun, but could not squese the gun hard enough. This unit shoots a little oil out during use, but less every time i used it. If I were not working on the inside of my car, i would not care. Can't wait to find somemore jobs that need rivets.

Just got my riveter up and going and installed some rivets that were needed on the custom golf cart that I'm working on. After 4 phone calls to the cust. service number, finally got someone that could tell me what type "hydraulic oil" to use. Ended up using air compressor oil and it works fine. Don't be alarmed when you use it the first few times and it shoots a lot of oil out the exhaust.....that goes away shortly after about 4-5 rivets. Wish I had gotten one of these months ago and lots of golf cart body replacements would have gone much easier on my old hands!!! I highly recommend this tool!!!

Use it for race car fabrication and recreation vehicles. Never a problem. It does the job quickly with little or no effort. Highly reccomended!!!

Makes rivet jobs easier and tireless. Does "squirt" out a little hydraulic oil at first - but it stops and keeps working great!
