Good product. I use it at work but the tip pits deteriorates after several uses. I would like to be able to find tips for it.

    Tip heats unevenly

    By Ian

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 30 Watt, 120 Volt Soldering Iron:

I figured I'd just grab a new iron from Harbor Freight.

    Big mistake.

This thing is a piece of c***. The tip doesn't heat evenly at all. I can touch the point of the tip to a piece of solder for 5 seconds and have nothing happen. But if I touch the solder a bit further back on the tip, it melts almost instantly.

It'd be a great product if the point of the tip (you know, the part you actually use) got hot like the rest of the tip, but it doesn't.

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 30 Watt, 120 Volt Soldering Iron:

Iron is ok/average. Hard to handle as it gets waay to hot where the normal human hand has to hold it.
