I was trying to trap a skunk which was living under my porch. Skunks do go into a light state of torpor, but do not hiberate like bears do. After one month, three cats and three squirrels, he finally woddled in.

The only problem with this trap, is how do you let a skunk out, without being sprayed. I rigged up some baling wire and a 16 penny nail with string attached at the rear cage door.

I took the skunk out to the hills, pulled the string and watched him walk away.

The trap stayed open through all the rain and wind. Everytime any animal made it to the bait, the trap worked perfectly.

By the way, if you need to trap a skunk, use peanut butter. Skunks love it and cats do not.

We have about 30 feral cats in our neighborhood. So I decided to trap some of them and turn them over to the animal control. The animal control department in our area only takes animals between 9AM and 5PM. The first night I set up the trap I caught a cat at about 8PM by morning there wasn't much left of the trap and the cat was gone. I guess it would have been okay if I could have transported the cat to animal control right away. But it only took a few hours for the cat to bend the cage all up and escape.

works great after modifing back door with bungee cord to keep long pin from sliding out , same with front after cats were caught, for transporting , common sense helps with modifying, i like it.I caught 11 Feral cats so far , cage still strong , happy .

      Comments about One Stop Gardens 32-1/2'' L x 10'' W x 13-1/4'' H Collapsible Medium Animal Trap:

Bought this last summer to deal with the rabbit population problem and besides over 40 rabbits successfully caught, it also caught four raccoons, three feral (and very aggressive cats) and I dont know how many ground squirrels as well. If set up correctly, this trap is strong and secure (those coons were heavy and strong) The area around the handle on top is solid metal to keep the animals inside from getting your hand as you carry it. I was able to buy three of these for the price of one similar model at the local bigbox hardware store. It is certainly worth it if you have acerage like I do, or just have a lot of lawn and garden destroying pests.

I bought this to catch the stray cats that like to sit on my patio furniture and drive the dogs crazy... Catch number one went well until i was putting it in the bed of my truck and the rear hatch oppened (FIX = Zip ties)... the whole cage is alot stiffer now...Three cats and one possum latter it does well... ive noticed if i cover the cage the cats dont get as wild... Im thinking of buying the smaller one and including it in my Bug Out Bag...

Remember Zip Tie the back door shut...

It's not a bad trap, If properly set up it will spring the door & catch whatever goes into it however... I caught a feral cat, the door was all of the way shut & the cat was able to force it open while almost tearing me apart. It may be OK for some animals but not an overly aggressive feral cat. It can & will get out. Still you can't beat it for the price.

The non-trap end is not as secure as it could be, but a few zip-ties fixed that in a hurry. There's no way an animal is getting out of this thing.

In short - cat ran away 1 1/2 - 2 years ago - came back now - have been trying to get cat in a cat traveler bag - too small - finally got him in this junk - was walking down my stairs to take to vet - cat squeezed/pushed out one of doors - ran away - THIS CAGE IS USELESS. I don't write reviews but this shows how mad I am about this...

It does not trap raccoons which is why I bought it. They always escape within hours, sometimes minutes. Do not waste your money on this trap.

Got 5 units on sale and it beats the heck out of major store brands for the money. The new design and thicker gauge material is really nice and holds up well. I have caught a fox, raccoons, squirrels and even a stray rabid cat. I have no complaints what so ever. The instructions were not clear and may confuse the average home owner or a less technical person. I am an engineer so I just looked at them to see how they were wrote!!!!

The trigger plate doesn't get triggered. And the animal lives to raid again.
