I carry many keys for doors on my job. Keys sometimes look the same. This tool can put lettering example; office, bath, storage, front, back, side, etc. Finding the right key is so much easier now.

Unlike the other reviews, the ONLY difference I've seen between this set and other, more expensive sets (my other set was upwards of $50) is that the more expensive sets have a notch on the end you hammer in order for you to be able to line the letters up while striking.

Using calipers, I was able to determine that the depth of the letters is exactly the same between sets. However, this set IS heavier, and withstands the strikes (with a 16 oz hammer) better than my more expensive set. To be honest, I use THIS set more often than my more expensive set.

The materials I use this set with are, but not limited to, silver, sterling silver, copper, stainless steel, brass, brass and polymer and PMC clays. It does as excellent a job with the harder metals as it does with the (obviously) more pliable clays.

I use this stamping set to stamp my name, number and other identifying information into the aluminum body of my air tools so they can easily be identified if 'borrowed' by co-workers or stolen. It does exactly what is is made to do, so it easily gets a 5-star rating.

The set is definetely not for use on hard metals but works great to fill out data tags and marking of many different tools. Try the one that is spring loaded it works even easier for marking soft materials.

This is a good set in terms of quality/price. The caveat is the letter "L" has a stray line. When you punch you can ofter see a faint line so the "L" looks like an upside down "F". If you can live with that situation, then the set which also includes numbers is the least expensive and compaires to higher end sets.

BYI, I've check all the stamp set for 1/8 and they have this defect. However the other stamp sizes (1/4, 1/2) do not have this defect.

While I can't disagree with anything that was said in the other reviews, I would recommend NOT buying this if you are intending to mark all your tools. Instead buy an engraver (which is roughly the same price when it is on sale) and save yourself the headache of trying to hold on to these with pliers and hit it at the same time with a hammer.

THESE DO NOT WORK ON ANY HARD METAL: examples of hard metal would be: sockets, pliers, wrenches, etc.
It worked passably well on my plastic screwdrivers, but is much more time consuming than it ought to be.
In other words, don't buy this to mark a tool that is made of iron/steel.
Works on Aluminum.

I had to take 3 sets back. I could only use it once and the letters flattened out every time. Meaning it was cheap metal and by the time I stamped a few letters on the metal- it was no good the letter stamp was squashed and the letters ruined. There is a reason it is 5.00 price tag. (on sale) even not on sale-- still too cheap! Don't bother with this set!
