I read many grinder reviews on Harbor Freight and other retail stores. I wanted an angle grinder for cutting 8" x 4" x 2" clay brick pavers for a curved walkway. Harbor Freight grinders got pretty good reviews and they were half the price of the other retail stores. I purchased the Chicago Electric 4" Angle Grinder #91222 and used an $11 diamond cutting blade. This grinder and blade worked great! I made a 30 ft. curved walkway which required approximately 90-100 cuts on 2" thick clay pavers plus shaping. The grinder and blade cut effortlessly through the clay brick pavers. The grinder ingested heavy amounts of brick dust but I occasionally blew the dust out with a compressor. I like the lightweight design and the ability to turn the grinder on, hold it with one hand and be able to cut or shape the brick. The diamond blade cuts through the paver without any force and creates a nice clean cut. I contemplated buying the other type of grinder with a paddle style on/off button that you have to hold down while using but after using this one I'm glad I chose this one because I like the ability to hold the tool and sometimes change hand positions without the tool going off and on. Note: this is a 4" angle grinder and if I would do it again I would buy the 4 1/2" grinder because the larger blade would completely cut through the paver after passing over the top and then flipping it over and passing over the bottom. The 4 1/2" grinder seems to be the exact same tool, same amps, same rpms only difference is a larger blade guard to allow for the 1/2" larger blade.

Know how to use this product correctly, wear gloves,gogles treat it right it will last a long time great little tool. Can't beat the price.
Been using it on averything you can think of,PVC pipe, metal, wood concrete, all size of contsruction rebar.

Bought this to get put on the truck to cut stuff and to get abused and destroyed by our crews. It cuts steel bolts, cuts masonry and plaster, copper and galvanized pipe. The masonry and plaster dust cannot be helping this things longevity, but it still goes. We do not use it for long grinding periods.

The cord has been cut and mended, the guard is rusting a little from being outside on wet days, and the thing looks a bit beat up. But again, you flip the switch and it works.

For the price, it works great. It is a bit under powered compared to more expensive ones, but that isn't a con, its just a fact. It does its job for an appropriate price. What more could we ask?

Bought one of these 4 yrs ago and use it a few times during the winter but gets heavy use during the summer on light duty jobs, grinding welds, removing rust on farm equiptment before painting, removing bolts, sharpening sections on sickle bars,ect. Didn't pay a lot for it so if it burns up tomorrow I got my moneys worth the first year. Am going to buy a larger one for more serious jobs next year. The only bad thing I can say about this little grinder is I had to modify the safety cover some to use the thick rust remover pads.

I had a specific project that required about 60 cuts of 1/2" rebar. I didn't want to spend a fortune on an angle grinder that would only get EXTREMELY occassional use. I purchased the 4" Chicago Electric angle grinder and a 10-pack of 4" metal cutting wheels. I had never cut rebar before and was surprised that each cut of rebar took maybe 12-15 seconds. With sparks flying everywhere my wife and kids wanted to get involved. After they geared up in safety glasses and gloves they each used the tool to make rebar cuts and had a ball.

I used a total of two cutting wheels for the cuts then used the grinder wheel to smooth off the edges. The tool was switched off and on probably 200 times during cutting and grinding. The grinder did exactly what I needed, I had no problems with the switch, and I had less than $30 spent on tools in the project. If it breaks tomorrow I got my money's worth. This was a good purchase for me.

For basic use, this is a great tool. I doubt that it would hold up in a serious shop (though I haven't tried, maybe it would), but most people should have no problem. I like that it did come with the grinding wheel, just as shown in the picture.

This is the grinder I use with a grinding wheel. It has worked great so far.

I recommend adding better quality grease to the gears to quiet it and reduce heat and wear. Great grinder.

went through three packages of cut off disks in two days --works great !


this tool has saved me time and hacksaw blades, not counting the money I saved . I'm going back and get another just so I can have them set up for grinding and cutting ..

I've owned this grinder for about 4 months and it has yet to give me a problem. I put a cut-off wheel on it and cut through 12 gauge sheet metal without a studder. I would highly recommend this grinder to anyone.

i used this tool to make a special pully remover for my freelander..i cut the 2" of metal and grind it and used this for another 4 hours.. its so good so i plan to buy another one for my brother.
