My wife and I are renovating our kitchen, and decided on tile for all our backsplash and undercabinet areas. I had never done a tile job before, but I knew I would need a wetsaw and based on other reviewers' comments, I bought this one on sale. I was not disappointed.

We had selected a 4 x 4 limestone tile, and decided to put in diamond shaped accents. This meant that the corner of every other tile had to be cut, and the included miter guage worked perfectly. The fence was very hard to lock in place (and based on other reviews I was concerned that it woud break) so I just used a pair of HF 6 inch bar clamps to secure the fence.

Besides all the corner cuts, I had to cut around more than a dozen outlets, switches, telephone and cable boxes, as well as trim dozens of tiles for fit. I even managed a pair of U cuts to fit around one outlet. By the end of the job, the blade was showing some signs of losing its edge, but we managed to finish the job. I even used it to trim some 13 inch floor tiles for a repair job.

In sum, I highly recommend this item to anyone thinking about doing their own tiling. While it might not have all the features of a professional saw, it costs less than one days wetsaw rental and did everything I needed it to do.

Worst tool ever, I love Harbor Freight and will continue to shop there but this saw is awful and useless. The blade would come loose in 30 seconds of use (not cutting use just being turned on), after researching online I saw others with this problem and it was suggested to use locktite. That corrected the blade coming loose and I began cutting, however after about 4 inches of cutting the blade would come to a stop, the tile is only 9/16" so it isn't to thick to cut. I went to another store and bought the cheapest model of wet saw, It only took me 10 minutes to make my first 2 cuts. This saw should not even be sold as it is not able to complete even the smallest of jobs.

Read the box before you buy. I didn't and bought this saw to do a shower in 12x12 porcelain tiles. Box clearly states it is for ceramic only. (Actually I made the same mistake on several cutting tools I bought before I started the job). It works just fine on ceramic but got about halfway through the second cut on the porcelain when the blade came apart.

I realized my mistake and went and bought the HF 7" saw and it worked great.

Comments about Drill Master 4" Tile Saw with Wet Tray:

I'm normally against Harbor Freight, not just the shoddy tools, but the shoddy staff and the way they are always asking you to get on their mailing list. I do believe in giving credit where it is due.

I bought this saw, with the blade (not included) for under $65, tax included. I bought it to tile my shower. I had looked at renting one for a day, but it would have been over $100 with the blade.

My biggest gripe with the saw is the fence. It is accurate, but it is not a speed fence. I'm accustomed to the fence on my table saw, and this one is lacking. You have to unclip both the front and back, and then make sure both front and back are lined up with the same measurement (ie 90cm or 3.5 in). Then you have to double check your cut line if you are marking tiles. People who have done a lot of building know to do this instinctively, but for the new guy, be aware. One can hardly complain, though, because the saw is so inexpensive.

I will say that the saw did not make me waste a single tile. The tiles fed fine, and when needed, the push block did well too. The deck (which is plastic) gets grit on it pretty quickly, and needs to be wiped alot. A throw away paint brush works well to keep it clean. Also, keep a little pick handy; after around 50 cuts, the grit starts to accumulate where the blade meets the deck. The water trough is a good size, but after around 30-70 cuts, should be flushed, depending on the size tile.

The motor is sealed, and the power switch has a waterproof cover, so you can spray this out with the garden hose, just don't get water in the grill on the bottom. That is where the motor breaths.

My final negative on the saw is the nut to lock the blade should have been a lock nut. After the first 10 cuts the blade came loose. I added a drop of locktite and the problem was solved. Poor design, but again, for the price...

          BOTTOM LINE:

If you have a small job for yourself, this saw is a cheap way to get it done. It would probably hold up on a larger job, but it's inadequate fence would cost you more in time than you would spend upgrading. Its perfect for a bathroom or small kitchen.

Comments about Drill Master 4" Tile Saw with Wet Tray:

This was my first DIY tiling job. I found this saw at Harbor Freight after seeing how expensive they are at other retailers. I am glad I bought this model. I have made dozens of cuts on travertine tile, and it easily gets the job done. This saw doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some models out there, but it costs 10% of those other models as well. I can't imagine a more cost effective wet saw.

Rented to cut marble tiles for bathroom redo. The locking tabs on the fence don't fit the table so you have to clamp in down which is time consuming. Difficult to adequately tighten blade, but can be done. Will not fit a 1/2 inch arbor blade which is fine but be sure to buy a 5/8" arbor blade OR a thin blade which is a pain because the thinner blades cut much faster. Overall happy with my purchase but wish fence locking mechanism worked.

Comments about Drill Master 4" Tile Saw with Wet Tray:

Used product to do a kitchen backsplash with subway tiles. Did herringbone center piece which required a lot of 45 degree angle cuts. The saw itself worked great for the price.

My biggest problem was with the quality of the red plastic Push Block which is necessary to do 90 and 45 degree cuts. After checking the angles and the straightness of the sides I found that it was unusable. The long edge was concave by about 1/16" from one end to the other and would rock when placed against the fence for straight 90 degree cuts. The block was deformed for use in making 45 degree cuts. It looks like the part was taken out of it's mold before it was cured -- very poor quality control on a very inexpensive but crucial part. Therefore I had to use my plastic framing square to do the entire job. If this Push Block was manufactured as designed I would have rated the saw with five stars. I suggest better quality control in manufacturing and prior to placing items in box. One attempt at using this block with an actual piece of tile would have exposed this flaw.
