Just finished cleaning up some threads that were damaged when I had to drill a bolt out. Tap was very effective getting the job done. I bought the more expensive set (if you can call [$] expensive) because it seemed much more robust and had much bigger tap/die wrenches. The bigger wrench was very helpful. This set also has larger tap/die, going all the way up to 1".It worked so well on a clean-up, I decided to give it a shot cutting new threads. This worked very easily as well.The set comes with course and fine thread pitches. This works great for most of my needs, however, I do have an axle I need to clean up and the threads are too fine for the fine pitch die included.

I'd recommend this set to anyone. For the price I wasn't disappointed.

This is a very good working set of taps and dies at a very reasonable price. Harbor Freight should also sell a set of Titanium coated smaller set of Metric and SAE taps and dies. I'll be a buyer when they become available. Listen to your customers Harbor Freight. Doug

Worked great. I didn't try them in real hard material as i use them mostly to chase damaged threads, but they seem to work real good for that. Lots of bigger sizes that don't come in most sets.

So far so good. I was surprised how big the set was! Cleaned up some threads on my old VW with no issues. Havn't cut new threads yet though.

I use this on the ranch to make or chase threads. I broke one, but have never gotten anyone to replace it............. So what's this about a warranty?

will not reccommend to anyone, the dies stretch cause of the split in them so it doesnt cut very effectivly at all (not too bad on threads tho but still not a good cutter) and the taps chip easilly, even one of the dies wasnt even cut(no cutting teeth in it) so i couldnt use it, so if i were u i wouldnt spent me cash on it!!
