I enjoy taking stuff apart anyway so I was kinda sad there wasn't more to fix! Perfect vise for the price!

Besides the overall level of crudeness there is misinformation in the instructions. The thread pitch is stated as 1/8" but is really 3mm. So 22 turns gives me 2.598" instead of the expected 2.75". The metric screw along with the English visual scale makes it a challenge to do anything other than freehand work.

Comments about Bitmoore 5" Drill Press Milling Vise:

First of all: Milling with a drill press is not a good idea in the first place, the bearings in a drill press are not designed for lateral loads so you'll wear them out rather quickly.

With that said, this vise is not up to the milling task anyway, and it's as crude and clumsy at they come. My major gripe is that the ways are not dovetailed, so the slides can move vertically. There's no way you can do any precicion milling with that. It took several hours to polish and adjust the gibs to make it move smoothly, all the screws are loose fitting and have a rough plating, the jaws are sloppy, there's no way to adjust the backlash and after fooling with it for a while I stuck it under the workbench. It sees occasional use as a simple X-Y table for drilling, but it's far from the precision vise it's advertised as.

Comments about Bitmoore 5" Drill Press Milling Vise:

The ways on the lower table were not parallel by about 1/16. Had to spend several hours grinding and filing one side so that the gibs didn't seize. OK for cleaning out mortises and cutting grooves, although the cut for a long groove can wander. If my time were worth $10/hr I didn't save anything against a $200 domestic table, and I still have to contend with making the X and Y motions perpendicular.

Comments about Bitmoore 5" Drill Press Milling Vise:

I bought it mostly as a cross feed vice, but it isn't very good at that and certainly not suitable for even simplest milling. It's extremely loose in every aspect (huge, sloppy, tolerances) and if tightened enough to not wobble, it can't move.

Although I do occasionally use it (as a vice), I would not recommend it, even at the price.

I must have gotten the worst one. This thing is so poorly manufactured, I don't know if it would even make a good boat anchor. Oh, well... live and learn

I got one even after reading all the reveiws. i also agree with every one else. the one i got was in bad shape. the screws that eveyone talkes about, when tightend clamped down on the base making the travel in both x and y not work. one part had a place where there end mill slipped making a bad spot that the plates would not travel across. mine was so bad i could not fix and took back. saving my money for a better one.

to get this to work I had to tighten it on the ways so it would not jump around. Still very hard to use and I was machining plastic. With some modifications it may work but not great
