Very good wheel and less pricey than the ones found at big box stores. It's balanced and wires don't fly off easily. Wheel is a bit more on the coarse end of scale, as another reviewer mentioned, but I prefer that since it knocks rust off in no time flat. The bristles are indeed brass plated steel.

THIS PARTICULAR WIRE WHEEL IS A LITTLE TO COARSE TO BE USED ON A BENCH GRINDER. A FINER WIRE SIZE WOULD GIVE BETTER RESULTS IMO. FOR ROUGH RUSTY ITEMS IT MIGHT BE OK BUT NOT FINE ITEMS.

put this on a bench grinder to clean up some rust. works good so far, no wires flew off.

Used it for about four hours and no flying wires. Worked as it should. No balance problems. Looked identical to the ones selling for $7.50 or more.

We bought this to clean up a damaged bronze gear. When it began rounding the edges off the gear I put a magnet to the wheel; it is steel.

Although the packing stated "Brass", the wires are steel, just anodized. Check with a magnet before purchasing. You would think that HF would confirm the what the material really is since that the country of origin have sold us a bill of goods in the past!
