I bought one around 11/2011 for [$]. It would not turn on by itself but it did auto shut-off. After powering up it would frequently add .200 to the reading; I would measure stuff and wonder if it had added extra or not....not very accurate or useful. I thought about returning it but decided to keep it in my desk at work where I make very few measurements and can afford to double and triple check. A month later I went out and bought another for [$] and this one works perfect. It has auto-on, auto-off, does not wander or drift, is highly repeatable, and the jaws seem to flex less than the first example.Overall, I think it is a GREAT deal at [$] and a GOOD deal at [$]. It's no Mitutoyo but it's less than $25 out the door! I say if you can find a better caliper under $25 then buy it...but you probably won't find it.Btw, I do hobby machining at home to within ±.003 and I do aerospace components at work that are frequently within ±.001. The caliper at work acts up during operation but has always been as accurate as the high-end stuff in the Inspection dept. (i have compared them)One last thing, these are Pittsburgh not Cen-Tech.

The Cen-Tech ones are great. I own 4 of them. The new Pittsburgh are a massive step down. They feel rough and the precision ground ends look like they were done on a belt sander. The readout is zero when you turn it on so you must zero it every time. The digital output (under the non-battery cover) is easier to decode than Cen-Tech but it is slower to update. Still a good deal on sale.

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

It works great, feels like a way more expensive unit. Very accurate...tested it against a very pricey machinists caliper...it was dead on.
I really like the digital readout. Super nice for the price.

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

Only had mine for a couple of months and have used it a dozen times or so. I use it for wood working and for gauging some hardware. I've used a HF plastic model for years and loved it. If you're going to put something in a toolbox and don't want to rely on "technology", then use the plastic model and go cheap... never have to worry about batteries. And use this model when on sale.

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

These work okay IF they're clean and IF the humdity isn't high, and you have to zero them constantly. Not just when you turn them on, etc, but really, constantly. Otherwise they creep away from zero. If you zero, then slide up and down reasonably slowly, then check you'll notice after 3-4 times of this it'll start getting inaccurate, say 61mm vs 60mm.And be careful about the batteries. I always removed mine when not in use, and at some point the caliper starting showing crazy numbers, like 1 (space) 8 (space) . (space) 5, etc.. Swapped batteries, same. I thought the digital part was dead for some reason. Later I tried out a brand new LR44 and it works fine. So the batteries that come with it are pretty daft, even basically unused (maybe 20 minutes of use one one, zero on the other).I paid $12 or so, which I think is good. Not sure [$] is the right price though.

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

Got this to use for some hobby gunsmithing. Digital readout made readings super quick. Unfortunately it died after owning it for 18 months & using it a few dozen times. 3 different new batteries and it's still got a scrambled readout. I picked up a 6" dial caliper at HF to replace it which has a lifetime warranty.

        Good tool and very reasonable

        By Larry

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

This is very accurate and reasonable caliper. The accurcy is very close to that of a good micrometer, and it is quick and easy to use. The only bad issue I have with it, is that it will not shut itself off after a period of nonuse. So if you set it down and forget to shut it off, the battery will be dead the next time you want to use it. Not a major issue, if you buy the batteries bulk like I do. I deffinately recomment this item.

        By Danny

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Cen-Tech 6" Digital Caliper:

I bought these to use on jobs that didn't require the accuracy of my Mitituyo calipers, thereby saving some wear and tear on the more expensive ones. To my surprise the Cen-Tech were just as accurate.
