Needed just this size to split ash, maple and apple. Brought it home and screwed on the wheels, no big deal. Put it on the back of my pickup tailgate and split some ash just fine for a few hours, then the power supply hummed with no action, then the power supply went dead. Will take it back and complete the review with the next one!

Bought this to resplit firewood that was split too large. Works great!! Even made it through stringy oak. Placed on top of two sawhorses to eliminate bending over.
More powerful than I ever expected.

The splitter is slow , there may come a time I am glad I own it but I can split my wood faster with a maul . It leaked oil right off the bat and it kind of freezes up . I bought it in the spring and did not use it till this fall . My bad I did not get the extended warranty or it would have been returned .

Used this to split about 1 cord so far. I was splitting primarily oak. Some pieces were about 15 inches in diamater, bigger than the rated size. It cracked them in half no problem. Seems sturdy and well put together, the axles for the tires are greasable. The tires are the neverflat kind as well. The store pushed the extended warranty pretty hard on it, but the guys in pickup department said they didnt have any come back previous year. The reason im not giving this 5 stars is because I hardly give anything a perfect score.

Just bought this unit today. Very limited. Has great difficulty with oak. Will limit out and stop. Not recommended for splitting fireplace wood.

Purchased this unit last week after waiting for it to go on sale for [$] and then used the 20% off from the mailer - out the door for [$] plus tax. I used this splitter for two straight days and it split everything I threw at it.The cashier REALLY pushed the extended warranty and mentioned that she has seen these units returned quite a bit. Maybe a selling technique but I decided to go risk it and go w/o.Very happy with this splitter so far.

Picked it up on-sale at the local store. Got it home and started using it, when I noticed the screws came out of the motor fan cover and the plastic piece came out from under the ram. Will contact the manufacture about them, but otherwise, it has split about everything I put on it. Would buy it again. BTW check the hydraulic fluid as it doesn't have the correct amount in it from the store.

Lightweight, handy and easy to use. It has more power than you would imagine. I have split 30" diameter pine logs with it. Certainly better than a maul and wedges.

I bought this 3 months ago so I waited to write a review after I had given it a full test. My only complaint is that I didn't get it years ago! Besides splitting every type of wood I can find in Ohio, I knew the real test would be the Black Gum that grows in the lowlands of NC, this tree grows tall, straight, with limbs only at the top, but the grain is like a drill bit...making a complete revolution about every 2 feet, it cannot be split with a maul and wedge. Well this thing did it, not splitting it but tearing it apart. For home use you just can't go wrong, and the best part is you can sit in your heated shop, watch TV and have a cold one without the noise and fumes of a gasoline machine and split wood.

not in a straight line. Split with the grain .you will be ok. I really need a 9 ton electric .But this one is doing the trick. Very good product!
