I was looking for a small safe to secure a handgun and ammunition in my bedroom when I saw this on sale. I picked one up and was pleased with the sturdiness and ease of programming the lock. I disconnected the keypad beeper and bolted it to the floor of my bedroom closet. With the keypad I can open it without having to turn on a light, and my firearm is secured from children, or pretty much anyone who doesn't have a very big prybar or a metal cutting saw. I've had this for about 9 months and have had no problems with it.

Like others that have reviewed this, I keep a handgun in this safe. I too disabled the beeper on mine by putting some glue into the speaker so that the membrane could not vibrate. This will not keep a burglar from getting your stuff if they have enough time but it is excellent for keeping kids and others from gaining access to anything you want to keep away from them. Lets face it, most burglaries are "smash and grabs" with the burglar wanting to be in and out quickly. Bolting this safe down in a hidden location is probably the best way to use this. If you don't bolt it down well, you might as well not even lock it. If you are leaving town for awhile I would move your valuables to a more secure location. I have been using this for about three years and have yet to change the batteries and I open it probably 6 times a week. Great little safe for the money

You can hide this sucker just about anywhere. Big enough for my money and a few valuable coins.

This was a good idea for two-hamiltons at an in-store sale. It will keep honest persons-honest and deter the "smash and grab" type. It's ok but I wouldn't keep the Pink Panther in it. As for the beep, if an intruder is in your house, we may WANT to make noise. IF you are able to remember the code, and if the intruder can hear it, he may wonder; "is that an Alarm" or a "Gunsafe"? Either way, he may abruptly choose a softer target. I'll keep a telephone and lethal force closer at hand and not lose sleep over a beep.

I want this to keep money/medications in, but I wonder about how fire-resistant it might be. If I bolt it down, would I need to unbolt it before getting out? A bit problematic since I'm in a wheelchair, which makes me slow already. Other than that, this is a GREAT safe!

This is a great little safe for a handgun. The only problem I had was that it beeped when the buttons are pressed. Not very good if you don't want to alert an intruder you are going for a gun! Easy fix if your handy with a soldering iron, just de-solder the beeper on the circuit board and through it away
