This is by far the best rotary tool I have owned. It has lots of power and the battery lasts a long time. I purchased a Wen prior to this one and the batteries never lasted more than an hour and forget it if you charged them and wanted to used them at a later date. The batteries on this rotary last for days. I have owned Dremels also and I don't think they compare to the power of this rotary tool.

I used this successfully for:
1)silversmith work: polishing metal, cutting thin gauge metal, winding wire into jump rings, smoothing off burrs, drilling very small holes to attach jewelry components & to 'texture' metal with tiny wire brush. I liked the 'hanging loop' on the end to hang it up when using the flex shaft.
2)minute woodwork details and to 'sand out' splinters and chips from hardwood flooring.
It is not intended to replace a drill, screwgun, or saws-all, so don't expect it to.
I found that as with any other rechargeable battery it was best to fully charge, then fully deplete (all in 1 shot: just turn it on in the closet and let it run out), then fully re-charge the battery again before sitting down to use it or storing it; they hold their charge much better that way.
Then someone stole it - I hope it broke right away.

Purchased this grinder 8 years ago... have used it primarily for sharpening my chainsaw when I'm in the woods. I get exactly 2 full sharpenings and a light "touch-up" out of it before battery becomes too low to function the tool properly.
I use a lot of 18, 19.2 and 24 volt power tools in my work... when I purchase them, I "cycle" the batteries down several times before putting the tool to work... and then about once every couple of months after that. This excersize will keep the tool's batteries up to full rating for a very long time.

I give this 4 stars due to the inclusion of a VERY usable flexible shaft, incredibly useful little flashlight, and case for attachments that fit on any Dremel compatible rotary tool or extension shaft! These two pieces alone make this kit worthwhile. I use an old B&D Wizard with the flexible shaft and light work great.

No, this is NOT a pro quality tool, but for hobbyist work especially polishing of electrical contacts and miscellaneous close quarters fine sanding, polishing and a bit of woodwork touchup, this works very well!

Knowing that batteries ARE available allowed me to push this to 4 stars from 3. Recommended IF you have another corded or more powerful cordless rotary tool to really make use the flexible shaft!

One complaint about the product is that there are no extra batteries available. They ARE available, just not at the store or website. If you phone Harbor Freight directly, you can purchase extras at[$] each. I just ordered 2 extra.

I had replace the battery after about a year for a few minutes of use a day. I got two replacement batteries and just rotate them so I'm never out of juice. I use a cotton buffer to polish small projects and it works well. Much nicer than having to deal with a cord. For my use I would but it again.
