I do not use this often, but it looked so handy that I figured it would be well worth the little money that it cost. It is so much easier than filing by hand! Never looked for replacement files yet since I do not use it very often, but I would imagine that I could modify other files to fit this. Heck, I would probably just cut the worn file off and take the shaft and weld or braze on a new file.

This file is in use 8 houres a day; cleaning weldments in a welding school. The air file has reduced filing time to 1/3.





Recomendation: Replacement files should be available where the air files are sold; this would eliminate shipping cost to the customer.

I picked this up, even after reading the other reviews, and its just what I needed. I plan on using this to get into tight areas for my woodworking projects, and very light metal working. I took it out of the package and it is a little on the heavy side, but it feels like quality to me. I connected it to my air line and was impressed of how quiet it is. I was a little disappointed that the stroke length of the files seems short (about 1/4 in or so) but I tested it out on a piece of wood and it did exactly what I intended for it to do.

This tool works fine on 3/16 metal that I use for plasma art projects. The only problem I see is there is no mention of where to get replacement files. Harbor Freight must think the files will out last the tool !

Unfortunately this air tool is useless to me. I bought it to help me sand down some quarter inch steel that I was working with.
the files are very fine do not take away a lot of material at once.
this tool is better suited for finishing work or lights sanding.

I purchased this tool to help me make some square holes in 3/16 aluminum plate. I am new at this and used the triangle file to make a round hole into a square hole. The tool is easy to use and cool in my hand but it doesn't remove material very fast. I have been using a hand file to remove the bulk of the material and the air file to finish off the corners. If there were a coarser file, that would probably improve performance of my application.

The plastic ON/OFF switch cracked part way through first use but did not realize it. While filing an exhaust pipe flange under the vehicle the air file started the job well on first part but began to not work only part way through the job. The air file appeared to be blowing more air out of the exhaust port and the file would stall. We finished the job using an electric grinder. I put the tool away until the next time I tried to use it. I could stall the file between my thumb and first finger. I noticed that the air was blowing out excessively and switched the coupler thinking that was what was leaking the air . Closer inspection revealed the air appeared to leak from under the ON/OFF switch above the exhaust port. I removed the air inlet fitting and found that the switch which slid back and forth on the fitting was cracked nearly in half and that there was a piece of plastic broken off and rolling around the switch compartment. Part of the broken part was missing and it looked as if an o-ring that should have been in the switch was missing. It is now lying on the floor of my garage with the fitting holding the remains of the switch in place until I can return it, even though the 90 day warranty had expired before the first time I used it.

Take a match, light your money and watch it burn. This thing just hums a little and does nothing else. It's just not designed correctly. Unfortunately I live too far away to make it practical to return to the store so it's now in a land fill.

I had high hopes for this tool but the stroke of the file (at least on mine) is about 1/4 inch. It's nothing more than a vibration with no action. ???

I bought it at a store quite a distance away and before we got a HF nearby so returning it never happened but I sure wish I did. It sits at the bottom of a drawer where it will stay until I decide to throw it out!
