I have never changed struts before until now. At first I was hesitant due to the fact that everyone wants to make you feel like you can't do it with something considered "Cheap" but the device performed exceptionally above standards. Easy to use and did it's job with no problems which i completed all 4 struts in 4 hours w/help of course from a friend on my 04 accord.

I just added a Daystar 2" leveling kit to my 2000 Grand Cherokee. This compressor was perfect for allowing me to get the coil spring back in with the spacer on. Just because it says for MacPherson, don't rule this out if you need an external spring compressor. Good price and sturdy. As with any spring compressor, continually add motor oil or some other good lubricant to the threads.

I was doubtful but gave it a try for the price. It did the job, I changed my McPherson on a Mustang with it this week end, first time in my life. The process is lengthy but for an occasional week end job, it's good enough.

This tool is great. I made sure to keep the threads lubed and used a socket wrench instead of an impact gun (I don't have one anyway). I used it to replace the worn strut boots on my car. A perfect tool at a perfect price when used properly. Highly recommended.

THIS TOOL IS A VERY SIMPLE TOOL TO USE I HAD MINE FOR OVER 10 YEARS THE SAME ONES FROM HARBOR FREIGHT YOU NEED TO USE YOUR HEAD AND PAY ATT IF YOU ARE USING AIR GUNS TO RUN DOWN THE NUTS REMEMBER YOU DONT HAVE TO BOTTOM THE TOOL OUT THERE IS ALOT OF TENSION WHEN DOING THESE BE CAREFUL YOU DONT GET HURT IF YOU DONT KNOW OR ITS YOUR FIRST TIME YOU SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE OR A SERVICE TECH OVER SEEING YO ITS A GREAT TOOL TO USE I USE IT EVERY DAY IN MY SHOP AFTER USE YOU SHOULD CLEAN THE THREADS ON A WIRE WHEEL AND DONT USE GREASE ON THE THREADS JUST PB BLASTER OR SOME 3 AND 1 OIL JUST A LITTLE ALL YOU NEED KEEP ALL YOUR PARTS OF THE TOOL IN THE SAME PLACE I USE A PLASTIC BOX I GOT FROM THE HARBORFREIGHT TO PUT THE TOOL AWAY WHEN DONE THNKS J/S AUTO REPAIR.,

I hate working on cars. With that said these enabled me to pull out the spring struts on a 1998 Ford Contour and install the springs and struts. Unlike most cars the Contour requires you to compress the springs to remove and install the spring struts. Other reviewers said these bolts failed or warped on them. I don't believe they used them properly, either they used them on truck springs or did not lubricate these. I lubricated them twice for each use. I lubricated these when I took of the first spring, I lubricated them when I installed the first spring. I lubricated them when I removed the second spring and finally again when I installed the final spring. I never had these issues. I did make one change to the design of these. I added a second bolt on each shaft allowing me to adjust the level of the bottom clip and have more control of the movement of the device upward. I was worried about the clearance at the top of the spring strut and this resolved this issue.

I am a novice at car repair and working on springs/struts. This is the first time I have ever changed springs/struts.

Used this to change the rear struts on my wifes jeep. Worked perfectly and gave me absolutely no trouble. Entire job took about an hour. For those commenting that this tool is only good for a couple struts before the rod starts bending, well, you're doing it wrong. Mine are still in perfect shape...no damaged threads or bent rods.

I think people have this false idea that you need to crank these struts down more than nec. In turn binding, bending, or even catastrophic tool failure occurs. Tool threads must also be properly lubricated. Many tool brands/manufactures require the threads be cleaned and lubed "EACH USE". In other words every time you change a single strut/spring. Not every time you pull it out of your box. It should only take about 1/4" of slack taken from the spring to disassemble it from the strut. If a strut spring removal tool is tightened to the point of bending the rod(s) the tool is obviously being misused. Most springs have a "progressive rate" of tension. The springs require more force to compress the more they are compressed. If you needlessly apply 5 tons of force on a tool that is designed to "properly handle" 3 tons, you will break the tool, and likely cause severe bodily harm. The tool is not intended for use on the vehicle. The strut assy. should be removed from the vehicle. The spring does not have to be shortened to half it's height to be removed from the strut. The only time I've seen a strut tool fail was because of user neglect.

this tool has saved me on a side job. i went and bought it and work very well. i am happy with the tool. i have done a few side jobs with this tool. the only thing i made new tabs for the hooks. but other then that im very happy with it.
