Had my 4x4 John Deere stuck in a creek bed to the frame. Front tires were completely buried in the mud. Creek water was up to the radiator fan. It has a front end loader and a box blade on the back. This 4 ton winch was my absolute last resort before calling a dozer (which would have cost me about $150) to get me out. It took me an hour to move the tractor 10 feet to free it. The winch really surprised me. It pulled inch by inch even when it was covered in mud and grit! Even if the thing breaks the next time I use it, it was worth its weight in gold that day!

I purchased this product after reading all the negative reviews. I used it all day pulling large well established shrubs and it worked flawlessly. It was very simple to use and had no problems with it at all

Have had mine for over 6 years and its never let me down. Have lost electric and chain winches and this come along is always sitting on the bench and always finishes the game. Even used pulling the dead load of a car stuck in a ditch!

I used this winch puller twice for taking down very large, tall oak trees which were angled awkward toward building structures. It worked flawlessly with large amount of pressure being applied.

I purchased this to carry around in the back of my jeep wrangler 4 door in case I do something more stupid than usual or get hung up in the mud. I tried it out today on our gravel driveway which is flat but I tossed in a couple of cobblestones & a couple of wood 4x4 chunks to act as obstacles to winch the jeep over. The winch did what I expected it to do without any issues and to the best of my knowledge nothing broke, which is reported in several of the other reviews. The jeep weighs about 3750 lbs. It is a bit of a pain holding the drum release & pulling the cable out. I would like it if the working length of pull was greater than about five feet. According to the instructions, you aren't supposed to winch anything with less than 5 full turns of cable on the drum, which shortens the usable pulling length.

Read all cons but what I had to do was pull my tractor Ford 3000 from mud (knee deep) which worked for the person with the JD tractor. It also worked great for me and saved me lots of money. My truck has been able to get me out in the past but it could not this time. Got it out in <30 mins.

I was hesitant about buying this after reading the other reviews. The cable is hard to pull out. I used this to pull my one ton chevy van out of the mud. There are no issues as to this not being strong enough. It is a beast of a van that it pulled. I will use this again, however, if it only worked once for me, to get my van unstuck, that alone was worth the [$] I paid for this. I used my quad to pull the cable out, I don't think you can do it by hand. I would buy this again in a second, because of the price. I would have had to pay over $100 to get the van winched out by a tow truck.

this come along is worth its wieght in gold. This unit has pulled my 1993 f-250 ext cab 4x4 out of a bar ditch in 3' of snow. The following trip it was used to pull my brother 2005 z71 silverado on 35" tall tires out of another ditch that he had slipped into. both of these pulls were long and hard but the simple fact is without this tool we would not have made it out. Take what you want from the other reviews but for [$] this thing could save your life form a freezing cold night in the mountain. thanks

Great winch, very strong, especially for the money. However, the spring-loaded clips on the hooks should be removed. They get in-the-way and bend easily. Suggest removing those before use or have manufacture remove those safety clips in next resign.

Lets be honest, THIS WILL NOT PULL 8000 Lbs. OF DEAD LOAD!!! I don't care how high the "Factory Rating" is... Now that said, This will work well on Rolling Loads, Medium pulling and sliding Loads, and LIGHT Lifting Loads, (Yes I know, it isn't for lifting, but I have lifted 1100 Lbs. of Engine, and transmission on it, without issues. It does need to be taken apart and well greased to make it operate smoothly, and the spring plate over the spool is needed to keep the cable from binding, so lets not knock the design too much. Yes the market has "BIGGER" Come-A-Longs available, but accounting for the blatant over-rating on this device, it will be a solid performer that will serve you well for the price paid. Here's my general rules for use:

* Dead Loads, Sliding Loads, Mud Stuck Vehicles = 3,500 Lbs.
* Rolling Loads, (Cars, trucks etc. in Neutral and not stuck in mud!) = 5,000 Lbs.
* Overhead Lifting (I know) = 1,500 Lbs.
