I bought this kit to change the lower ball joints on my 2006 Dodge Ram and it worked great. As long has you have a strong air compressor, a good impact... this kit will do the job. It took a little bit to break my ball joints loose but thats just a vehicle being a vehicle. I bought it with a 20% promo.

Got this to do the ball joints / u-joints on a Jeep. (get the optional adapter set for the angle adapter Jeep requires) Bought this with some tripidation based on negative reviews, but figured it was worth a shot. VERY good purchase. There are other ways to do u-joints, but this really made it quite easy, and other than very $$$$$ sets I can't think of any other way to do ball joints. Never having done this job before it took some time to figure out the typical C_i_e_e instructions, but once we got started it was only a few minutes per joint. Had to turn the air up to 150 Lbs to get 2 of the ball joints to move, but out they came. The adapter set also has a handy chart for which adapter to use for which vehicle. I'm sure you can bend/break this thing, but with enough inappropiate force you can break anything. Just grease the threads and tip ball. Great purchase.

I used this tool to replace the original ball joints on a 2007 E250 with over 135k miles. It worked great, the joints came out easily and the new ones went in just as easy.
So pointers to make ball joint repair easier:
1. grease the thread (hint taken from another reviewer)
2. get 14 Piece Master Ball Joint Adapter Set
item#66958, it will make your job much easier.
3. use a 1/2" impact wrench. Don't use a ratchet, you'll never get the proper leverage.
4. a bech vise will serve as an extra pair of hands.

Just make sure you lube the threads to prevent binding, worked great on my Ball Joints and front U joints as well!!

So far, I've used it on my '94 Explorer to do both Upper and Lower Ball Joints on the Right and Left side and the Universal Joints in the Front Axle. There were no problems that the tool could not handle on the rusty under carriage and my Explorer is now handling much better and is more quiet.

My old '90 F-150 Pickup is next.

Love the tool. Great buy.

grease the threads, go easy and tap with a hammer and the ball joint will come out without damageing the tool

Works good. Working in a shop for years I've learned some tricks. If your bending these your not using them right. Its not just brute force or how long of a breaker bar you use! Try using a heavy duty impact gun. If you dont have one use a Long ratchet or breaker bar but every time you turn the ratchet. tap the housing the ball joint presses into. the vibration will make the balljoint move under pressure. If you do this you will never bend one of these. Good tool anyways and cant go wrong for the price.
