I purchased this tool about 3 months ago and wanted to give it a try before rating it.


After using the saw on a couple of jobs, I have nothing but a top shelf approval rating for it. If needing to cut in electrical boxes in "old, dried out paneling" this little saw is the key. No chipping or ripping or breaking away of the face of the paneling. A nice clean cut....smooooth edges. Also, used it to trim out a couple of cut in ceiling light boxes in a huge two story house we are partially rewiring that was built in 1890. HOWWW slick did that work. I purchased one package each of of all the blades available from HF. All those blades cost as much as the saw. I am very happy with this tool.

bought one used cheap , one of the tools i have , like a mini reciprocating saw , and you can make your own blades from reciprocating blades .

I install dryer vents and I needed a small saw that I could use to cut out old aluminum or galvanized dryer vents or to saw out a section of the vent line. This saw is perfect for this application. A regular reciprocating saw is too big and causes excessive vibration. You will have to have access to electricity but this is a minor inconvenience that is far out-weighed by the great job that this saw does for you.

I needed a small reciprocating saw to cut a transmission tunnel out of my car. I couldn't fit a normal sized saw in there to make the cuts. I don't have an air compressor. So a pneumatic mini saw wasn't an option for me. This one knocked it out without a problem.





One more thing... I don't think any other companies make a similar item. At least, I haven't found one. This is an excellent product that fills a void in the power tool market for sure.

I love this saw. Iuse it for plumbing in the house to body work on car. Only bad thing is blades cost alot but luckily they dont wear out too fast.

I used this to cut a hole in the firewall of my Jeep Wrangler. I needed to install a bigger fan for my heater. My only complaints are 1. the blades supplied are cheap and too flexible. This adds to your initial cost because you WILL have to buy better blades if you're planning a lot of metal cutting. 2. Because the blade length is small and the blade guard is large, it is difficult to see what you are cutting in certain situations. Other than that I can definitely see many applications for this "downsized" reciprocating saw.

I picked this saw up last year to do a few little projects on my jeep and motorcycle. The saw held up well to the abuse I put it through. The only negative i found was that the saw blades were very flimsy; I broke several. I am also tough on my tools, they earn their keep in my garage :) I just started a new motorcycle project and had to cut off some thick tabs on an aluminum piece. By using stiffer jig saw blades in this saw, it easily cut through 1/2"x1/2' aluminum.





As a note, the jig saw blades work great, like a mini Sawzal, but the blades are a bit thicker than the blade guide and will rub, get hot and smoke but haven't broke one yet....

Update to review from 8/21/2010. Had to get a replacement from HF which was no problem within the first year. It was under warranty. The clamp that holds the blade secure, broke. Got a new saw and used it a few times. Today the clamp broke again on the new saw while in the middle of a job. It is likely not still under warranty. I would not purchase this item again. Too bad, I really liked the saw. Did a great job cutting in tight areas.
