Works great. I have the 14x40 lathe with the disk sander. It mounts right up the threads are definitely 3/4 10. It is a little on the heavy side so its hard on my lathe in high speed. But works wonderfully on the lower 3 speeds. And it would be better if it was self centering but it would be higher too. I would most definitely buy again.

I wasn't sure if this would fit, or do a good job if it did. But I took a chance, and It works and fits great... the description needs to be changed to reflect the fact that it is 3/4-16 NOT 3/4-10 as advertised

This four jaw chuck works great! It's perfect for making spindles out of square blanks.

You get what you pay for. It works. Keep in mind that working close to the chuck can be dangerous due to the jaws catching your fingers. I bought this because I could not justify buying a $100-$300 wood chuck just for hobby work.

I have the HF 12" lathe and needed a chuck.
It is a nice chuck for the price minus 20%.
The thread pattern did not fit my lathe, but I knew that up front thanks to the reviews.
No problem; I took it by the machine shop and in about 10 minutes, they cut 1" x 8 TPI threads.
The cost was very very low for cutting the threads.
I think I am going to rough up the contact surfaces of the four posts to give it a little extra grip.

Since tomorrow is the last day for 20 % off, I'll order it and try it out. I'll either have a freind re-drill and tap to 1"-8 or McMaster Carr sells reducing coupling nuts to adapt. The price sure seems right though.

HF Description for this chuck is 3/4x10. It is NOT 3/4x10 or 3/4x16 on the one I received. It looks like 5/8x10.My HF Lathe #34706, 12'' x 33-3/8'' has a 1x8 headstock. This chuck probably needs a 1x8 to 5/8x10 adapter. Try [@] to order.

I use it to turn ,shape and polish small parts I use in model building. I modifyed by faceing off the sholder on the back and filling the threads with J. B. Weld and retaped it to 3/4 16 threadsto fit the lathe spindle and it works fine for me . I push it the the limet guite often and it performs very well

The internal thread of this HF chuck definately doesn't fit my HF wood lathe (1" 8 tpi). I had a friend mill a bolt, which had the correct thread size and pitch, to have a morse taper on the non-threaded portion. This taper fits into the headstock just like the star drive that came with the lathe. It fit just fine but the first time I tightened one of the jaw screws the shoulder of the screw stripped. I will have my friend silver solder a harden washer on to the screw. Definately too much effort needed to make such a simple item work.

If you own the Central Machinery 12" lathe DONT BUY THIS CHUCK! Even though its advertised as "AN ACCESSORY YOU WILL NEED" with this lathe its incorrect. Also there's an additional advertisement stating " Adapted plate not included". There is NO ADAPTOR PLATE.
