I have been using a set of these for a couple of years. Nice heavy HSS chisels. They take and hold a nice edge. Good mix of chisel. Unfortunately it did not have a bowl gouge, but other than that there is everything you need to get started. These are heavier and a little nicer that HF's other HSS set. I own both. Great value - half the price of the competition and the same or better quality.

There is nothing at all wrong with this set of tools, don't let the price fool you. I'm sure for the professional turner they would be sub-par, but for the weekend warrior they are truly sufficient! Especially if, like me, you are still attempting to figure out the art of sharpening. Out of the box they are not perfect, as the edge isn't sharp. After testing each on a piece of Cherry, I put them all to my grinder and with a sharp edge they performed just fine. The 3/8 spindle gouge took a little more grinding on the sides, but all in all I am happy with this set of tools. And all 8 for less than the price of 1 "professional" 1 inch skew chisel!!

These are a great set for a great price, get them with a 20% off and you cant beat it. They are nice enough that someone broke a window in my car just to steal them. I am about to go and get another set to replace them (but I wont leave them in my car anymore)!
