All the reviews here by people who've claimed "this is junk", "threw it down the driveway", etc. are by people who apparently don't know how to assemble a tool like this correctly. You assemble it fully and loose, square the bottom frame and tighten it, then true the upper frame after aligning the jack with the ram (this usually takes some turning some parts around, no big deal) and tighten that all down. I must stress this, it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL you have the jack axis inline with the ram axis as close as possible. With that done, you will get LOTS of use out of this press. I pressed out two old ball joints and pressed two new ones in, that job alone paid for the press. Nothing bent, nothing skewed, zero issues, and it was begging for more. I bought 8 feet of 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x .125 angle iron, divided it into 4 pieces, drilled holes in them and put them in place of the stock lower pieces of the press to increase its throat capacity, THAT really made the tool! I love it, it was worth the money and extra effort to make it exactly what I needed out of it. Perfect for the DIY guy who owns small cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. Aside from the square cast iron arbor plates that come with it (they're not X-shaped like real ones, the only flaw), I recommend it without hesitation.

Bottom line is that the product works for simple little projects. I think the assembly of the press was fairly straight forward but requires serious patience and serious attention to detail ( make sure the frame is square and verify that the business end of the press is also ). This is not a product that I would recommend for those who have a short fuze or are easily frustrated. For what it's worth, I feel like I got a nice little shop press. I just used this press to install some lug studs in a wheel hub and it worked very well.

It is a small but powerful press. It can be adapted to do many things without the storage issues of larger presses. If you complain it is too small then you ought not to be using tools as it is very easily made into a larger press with a small footprint.

used this press with some slight modifications for a Clicker to cut forms. works great and is less costly than buying a CLICKER. cutting 3 sheets of heavy leather with forms.


Paid for itself within the first Day!!

How funny is it that other reviewer BUYS this press for a job, THEN figures out it is too small, THEN complains about the size!!! Dude, if you needed a bigger press, why didn't you BUY a bigger press? People are so funny.

Great tool for the price. I have hammers and pliers more expensive then this press.
Use it with pancake dies, disc cutters, embossing plates. Does a great job.

While it is functional and sturdy, its use in the garage in minimal because of the limited working distance. Most hubs, a-arms will not fit - I would recommend the 12 ton even if it take up space and is slightly more expensive

i was looking for something that was basically a box of parts so i could build myself a light duty embosser kinda-sorta letterpress for my art studio. i read the reviews here and this smaller press appeared that it would fit the bill. i haven't actually used it to press my projects, but i had to write this review after piecing this together. i'm using light materials, paper and letters, i know this will work. but i had to comment on the build of this item for people who might be thinking of pressing out bushing etc.

first, as another reviewer said, huge patience is required to build this thing, because the directions are terrible and the parts are all "unique." Second, this should only be used for EXTREMELY LIGHT DUTY WORK. the build and quality assurance are terrible. let me repeat, TERRIBLE. i think whomever put my box together had just started. there was even an extra cross beam in my box. none of the header supports or uprights were cut evenly. to get this thing square is going to be a huge undertaking. again, for my purpose, not a deal breaker, but for pushing out ancient bearings or whatever, forget it. which, in that case, i recommend you NOT buy this particular press, as you would probably get very frustrated.

this press is hobby level at best. it's not expensive and with the HF % off code it's a downright deal. but only if you want something that's not plastic for embossing and pressing. typically hobby level stuff like this is plastic and breaks. well, this won't break pressing your custom stationary and it's way cheaper than something like the Epic and other hobby level presses. so... in that respect this is great. but it's totally DIY and then some...i enjoy that. i can tell this is going to be more than enough for my purposes.... paper, material, leather, etc. but NO METAL bending, pushing, prying going on here.
