8" Buffer

I use this mostly for deburring with a flap sanding wheel mounted on the left (like 93016), a large dense buffing wheel on the right (not a HF wheel). Its worked well for over 8 years now. Doesn't get used daily, but frequently. The buffing wheel is generally for putting a finish edge on a blade. The flap sander wheel does a wonderful job of taking off burrs on freshly cut metal. At the same time I bought this, a friend bought one for about 5 times the price. A commercial machine, for sure, but we speculated on how long this would last. Well, the HF is doing fine, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if this ever bites the dust, but it seems to have no problems. Does everything I want and then some.

I've used this buffer for 3 yr with no problem. I've put a lot of hours on it but my usage is fairly light duty. For a lot of buffing applications the RPM is too high but it's perfect for my usage.

I gave this 8" buffer only 3 stars because I have because it is less than 1 year old and the bearings are going out. It works fine but is best suited for the home hobbyist and intermittent use. I do a lot of custom polishing and Jeweling of firearms and this tool is the most used tool in the shop so I have gotten my money's worth out of it. I have replaced it with a Baldor 8" buffer but those are not cheap, you can buy 7 of these Harbor Freight buffers for what 1 Baldor buffer costs but I can't afford the down time of the Harbor Freight buffer.

Not a bargain if you have to go elsewhere to buy buffer wheels. The buffer wheels don't come with it and Harbor Freight doesn't sell them online or in their stores.


A 3/4" arbor is for industrial grade buffers and this isn't one.

Bogs down too easy when polishing metal. 3/4 inch arbor is a strainge size since they don't sell those size wheels in the stores or website. Cheap price is the only way this rated any stars.

First buffer didn't have any power and would stop while only trying to polish a screw driver. Harbor with no questions sent me a second one. The new one still had no power, could stop it with my hand. This one only lastet 3 days using it less then one hour a day and then it started smoking and burined out. I don't recomed it at all. However Harbor Frieght never questioned me and sent me a refund. I would have gladly spent more money to have a buffer that had advertised power.

I bought one of these last year, when my old buffer died. I started it up and within 1.5 minutes smoke was coming out around the shafts- this was not under heavy load, just coating the wheels. I called customer service, they sent me a return label and I got another...same deal on #2, sent it back figuring #3 would be the charm....it wasn't. I don't recommend it at all.. However, customer service was great and easy to deal with. I did get my money back...
