Being some 1that has turned wood for the last 30 years I have to say that this is a great little lathe.Head and tail stock all standard size,you can find attachments any where.Both are #2 morse taper.Thats a big plus.The only fault I have with it is the size of the headstock being small the belt can be a pain changing the speed.But for the price you can,t beat it.HFT needs to hurry up and start offering a bed extension would make a great lathe even better.

Just biught this unit because of reviews over the smaller model. I make crafts for the grandchhildren mainly. Set it up, head stock and tail stock line up perfectly. Went to work right away and it is quiet, powerful enough for my work and is easy to use.

This I have to say is an amazing little lathe! I work at a woodworking store and in a woodshop, and I have to say that this is comparable to all of the smaller lathes that cost almost 2 times more!. I have used this for everything a lathe can do, and I have to say it gets the job done like any other mini lathe.

First off this lathe is best for the money hands down. I did a lot of research on these machines and most models with the same specs(Hp ect.)were at least $100 more. This model does come with a #2MT headstock and tailstock so if you are buying attachment make sure they fit that spec. The lathe is quiet and is made of cast iron making it extremely heavy. This is a good thing in lathes, the heavier the lest vibration you will get.
The only thing that is missing that are on more expensive models is a variable speed option or knob. You can change the speed with this model but only after changing belt locations.
Great lathe especially for the money!

This lathe is just what I was looking for. I build fishing rods, and I needed a lathe to turn handles and lures. It is the same lathe as Grizzly's 10"x18" lathe and costs $35 less. Of course it has its limitations, but the quality is comparable to other name brand lathes with the same features. If you are looking for an inexpensive and solid lathe, this is it!

A couple of notes:

The description at HF stated that the spindle taper is MT2 and the tailstock taper is MT1. Not true, they're both MT2.

The plastic tightening levers on the tailstock and tool rest are a bit cheap, and I question their longevity. However, they would be very easy to replace.

I just bought this lathe over the holiday and as of now I put about an hour of use into it. It works great. It is stable as is on a good bench without srewing it down. It has good power and a nice range of speed. Lastly it will accept all of my other #2 morse taper accessories. An overall great buy for the price. This was the lowest price I found-other companies sell the exact same lathe but it is priced at least $100 more.

I have replicated several WWII anti aircraft rounds and really have great expectations for this lathe.It's been 50 yrs since I used a wood lathe and like a bycicle, took right to it. There is a bed extension to reach 38" cap availabe at another dealed. HF should look into stocking it also. Great little Lathe.

I just bought this lathe a few days ago but so far I am very impressed with the fit and finish and how quiet and smooth it runs. I was up and running turning wood in just a few minutes. The alignment of the head and tailstock was right on. A great deal especially on sale plus 20% off.
