I purchased this system to "test" its use with my university students. I was looking to teach the concept of "powder coating" as a means to appy a finish to metal projects. We experimented with various aire pressure settings. At 25 to 30 psi, we acheive best results and spray coverage. An air and oil separater was installed. The residue powder is easy to capture and recycle. Cleanup is quick with very little mess. We use a standard oven to bake our projects. We are devising ways to to suspend the projects to be painted. to minimize overspray and capture more powder. We will spray approximately 20 projects this year.At this time we have completed about 12 small projects. The system has been used 5 to 6 times this semester

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 10-30 PSI Powder Coating System:
If you already own an air compressor and general tools this power coating system is a no brainer if you want to bring new life to old metal components. Quicker, easier, more durable, better looking, and cheaper with less work than conventional painting (even spray painting). I was really surprised at how easy and quick it was to powder coat pretty much anything metal I could get my hands on. Also 1 lb of powder will last a very long time if you are doing small parts.

Great product with one simple mod

Got this unit for less than $50 with a 20% off promo code. As it comes out of the box I would say it's "ok". After making a DIY hopper it's great. This involves forgoing the cup feed and running clear plastic tubing to a remote reservoir. That and a few other easily located parts at any hardware store and you now have a gun that feeds consistently, with no sputtering and allows you to utilize the gun in any position...even upside down. Search the web for PC gun mod and you'll find all the info you need. One of my best HF purchases so far!

What a great little system!

This was my first time powder coating anything. I read great reviews about this so I thought what the heck. I needed something powder coated that was small and people around here charge at least 50.00 to do it, but with this on sale I got it for less than that and now I own a system! I'm a fairly experienced DIY painter but honestly I don't think you would have to be experienced to use this, it is so easy. Do yourself a favor watch a couple YT videos of people showing how to use the system, it really helps. Be sure to practice moving the pieces from the spray booth to the oven especially if you are using a small toaster oven or something as it takes a little skill to pop the pieces in there without rubbing off the powder. Only thing I'm concerned with is the longevity, hopefully it will last for a long time, it is an excellent, affordable system to get into powder coating.

Man, great little DIY tool. I've been using it for a year now and it still works great. I tried the Eastwood quick kote gun and it wasn't any better, in fact i think the HF product is way better. I coat small parts as an artist and this is the best way to go. My only limit is the size of the oven I have to bake parts in. I use a toaster oven at this time. I think I'll be getting a second gun to use for metal flake material and one for the clears. That way the contamination is kept to its minimum. I love this product! Also, I have found HF powder to be very durable. Some of the pieces I coat are for key chains and that coating takes a beating. I've noticed the HF paint was out lasting some of the others. Try mixing the few colors they have to make different shades and colors. Wish they had more colors, especially clear!

two thumbs up

This thing is the best piece of equipment in my garage! I've used it hundreds of time to PC many small parts during the restoration of an old Jaguar. If your part is freshly bead or sandblasted, you'll get professional results in less time than it takes to drive to the pros. I have had poor results with the powdercoat sold on the shelf next to it however. Stick to professional powders from online suppliers and shoot this gun at about 20psi. I've converted an old kitchen oven to strict powdercoating use and all is well. I only wish this gun had a bit more amperage. Be sure to ground the gun to your part after removing your foot from the pedal, or else a small hair raising shock will get ya.

Loved the ease of use, coated my cars thermostat housing with Harbor Freight flatblack powder. The results where awesome. very easy to use and hardly any cleanup. Just wish Harbor Freight carried more powder colors to chose from. Brake calipers next, brake rotors & drums also.Works best at 25 psi!!

I purchased this product a while ago. I built a oven for powder coating and used this system to powder coat some airplane parts. It works quite well and the over spray was very little. Easy to use and the psi I used was about 25 psi. I highly recommend this for the do it yourselfer. Great product.... Excellent job...

Exactly as described.

I got to the garage at 5PM and had 4 car wheels done by 8:30PM. For once, something was as easy as the description said it would be.
