I purchased this specifically to create a small flare on my Jeep Cherokee's tranmission lines where I had to cut away the leaking neoprene hose where it connects to the steel 5/8 tubing. My goal was to create a small flare, or lip, on the exposed end of the straight steel tubing to make sure a new transmission hose with a clamp would be securely fastened to the tubing and not slip off. When making the flare, I applied a little 3-in-1 oil to the end of the tube and to the tool point that pushes down, and it make a good flare. Instead of paying $60 for two new complete OEM transmission lines, I only had to buy this kit (with 20% off) plus two short hoses and four clamps; about $15 in all. It worked great for what I needed and now I have it in case it's needed for other small jobs liks the one I just did. It's not fancy, but it did the job.

I've never used one of these before so I don't know whats good or bad but this did exactly what I needed it to do. Works great.

Comes with a good tubing cutter, at least for aluminum and copper. The actual flaring pieces dont fit well together. While creating the flare the screw piece easily turns out of place and comes off the tube jaws. If they added an additional vise screw like the Rigid brand flare kit it would perform much better.

Very poor quality for such a simple tool. Have bought lots of other tools from Harbor Freight that were of very good quality. The tube cutter cutting wheel doesn't stay in grove but made a spiral grove. The flimsy knob on the tube cutter is of thin plastic and won't take much abuse before it breaks. Never got to the point I could try the flaring tool in the kit. Misplaced my receipt and was told by the manager at the I-45 store in Houston "Harbor Freights policy is no returns without receipt". Couldn't see exchanging it for another just like it so I returned home (50 miles) without any satisfaction. This tool kit is bound for the trash can.

Makes off round flares. Not very useful if you don't want leaks. If leaks are okay for you, go for it.
