I Love this product, I used to have a Rigid 690 but some one stole it when my service truck was broken into, along with other exspensive tools. I didn't want to spend too much money on tools that I dont use daily, so I purchased this electric threader and was surprised, it threads 3/4" and 1/2" iron pipe very well, as long as proper cutting oil is used. The only thing is that the motor uses carbon brushes which do need replacing, I only hope that when the time comes and it needs replacing, the brushes will be easy to find. Also I hope the dies hold, I've threaded more than 10 pipes with the 3/4" and the teeth on the die seems to be still sharp, but I use very exspensive cutting oil, to save on the cost of replacement dies. Oil is cheaper than replacing dies.

I HAVE DONE 2 SMALL GAS JOBS AND SO FAR IT HAS WORKED GOOD. IT IS 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THE MANUEL ONE. I JUST HOPE THAT THE DIES HOLD UP.

Bought mine at a HF "as is" parking lot sale, new & in perfect shape except for a smashed plastic carrying case - which is very flimsy. After all the negative reviews, I probably wouldn't have bought except for the rediculously low price.

As expected, tool turned out to be like a lot of other cheap HF knock-offs of better brands: it works great IF, before using it, you take it to pieces and do the cleaning, sharpening, honing, fitting, adjusting and careful reassembly they skipped at the factory!

My example, apparently like others reviewd here, had a good power head but very marginal dies: My dies were clogged with preservative wax, metal chips and burrs from the manufacturing process, shoddy, careless assembly, etc. They would have been, at best, disappointing to use as is.

Dissassembly, however, was straightforward and a couple of hours work produced a rough and ready tool that works well and looks like it ought to last reasonably well. Upgrade the cheap screws that hold the heads together, clean & lube everything properly and - well, just use common sense.

All this extra work probably wouldn't make sense for a busy pro... just buy a pricey, ready-to-go competitor's product and pass the costs on to your clients. But for the "occasional use" handyman, especially one who likes doing some "tool tuning", this tool isn't a bad choice.

Dies are horrible!!
Power Driver seems fine.
I returned mine after testing it out.

Can't replace dies with quality ones. They were NOT made to be replaced. Quality dies will not fit. (main reason I returned instead of exchanging)

Threads will be chewed up and non-existent for at least 1/2 inch... and the threads after that seem too thin in my view.

Exception:

If you have ridgid or other quality brand 11R Rachet set or just the 11R dies... you could just use the Harbor Freight Power Driver... instead of buying the Ridgid 600 Power Driver but, make sure to buy the 2 year warranty.

Power Driver seems fine except the safety switch engagement is alittle awkard.

Very strong and good power head, but all other components not good at all. Do get the extended warranty you will need it the first time you use it, and every time after that. I'm on my 3rd one in 3 days:( it does look good in the shop if you don't plan on putting it to work:) :( :(

useless cheap junk would not recomend to any one that needs to cut more than a couple ends

I could not get one piece of pipe threaded with this junk and I been useing pipe threaders 20 years. It does not work so dont buy it
