I use it to keep my entry gate solar panel from
overcharging the battery during the summer months.
It keeps the battery charged perfectly without
overcharging. Just remember, on the battery plug
the positive side is the female connector. On the
solar plug the positive is the male connector.
Since I'm not using the load wires, I put heat shrink on them so they can't short out. I use it
on my gate year round. My batteries last much longer
using this device.

This is a nice solar regulator i got mine about 2 years ago for 19.99 on sale and its still running to this day iv got a small setup on it running a 40watt panel with a 400 watt inverter and 2 gellcell batteries it runs 12volt lighting every night and the inverter every now and then,the regulator has yet to fail me and it charges my gellcells right to the recommended voltage 14.0volts

I read several reviews concerning battery polarity being reversed so I check the polarity with a volt meter before hooking it up to my motorcycle battery. Polarity checked out correct on the one I purchased today, maybe the factory got the message. I would have rated it 5 star but I have only had it for a few hours.

Be careful as others have said. I took the cover off to make sure I would not hook up the battery or panel incorrectly. I'm an electrical engineer and couldn't know for sure till I did this. The instructions are terrible. The red wire is on left for the battery and solar panel connectors. The right side are grounds. The load is easy as there isn't a molded connector and the red is + and black - as it should be. Just the molded connectors are not clear.

Product used at camp with 2x 15w panels & 1 deep cycle batt. Power for 2 12v lights, 1 exhaust fan (only used on occasion), and power to a socket plug for dc-aaa/aa charger, cell charger etc. Note: panels must be wired in parallel for 12v. Might need a 3rd panel for enough charge to run a thermal electric cooler on occasion, or a 12v bug zapper. Why didn't I just get the 45w kit? - Alot of reviews say the regulator that comes with it is junk.

Small and compact.
Plug to battery from regulator is backward.
Check out positive and negative wires and you will see.
Had to change polarity on plug from regulator to battery connection to get it to charge. Seems ok now.
Should'nt have to figure this out when you get something new and that is an oem item. !!

I bought the solar kit and hooked up to marine battery. Runs the lights in shed and charges 12v batterys for tools. Each panel powers 14v and lights will run all night. I look forward to try the 7amp regulator.
