Picked this up after a friends house was robbed and his firearms almost stolen he had the same safe from HF and it took a beating but they (thief)couldnt force it open even with tools laying around the garage they even tryed torching it but tank ran out gas lol..I been looking all around for a steel safe to put in my garage and liked the all steel design on this one compared to other big name brands with thinner steel then this one..its not fireproof and half the price of big name brands..it was easy to install and mount to cement floor with the right tools from HF..PS LOCK UP YOU TOOLS FROM THE BAD GUYS IF YOUR GOING ON VACATION)anything that cuts drills,grinders,crow bars and screw drivers

Bought last month. Took inside door cover off to check workings. Mine has washer bend-up against the flat of the nut holding on back of knob, that assembly will never come apart. There is lock-tight, and lock washer on the back nut of handle, is also designed to function even if it does come loose. So you would have plenty of time to tighten it up if door handle feels loose. All is very functional, and works good. Overall design is perfect for me.

First of all, I was lucky to find out my local store carried the newer version of this safe. Not much different, it is coal-colored (HF website won't let me use the actual name of the color, LOL) instead of green and the plastic trim is gold. The main difference is that the electronic lock works off of AA batteries instead of C batteries. This is a plus for me because AA batteries are always available in my home. The gun rack inside is a bit nicer also.
This will be used to hold my firearms, and some important documents. For my needs, this safe fits the bill perfectly. For about the same price of a decent gun cabinet, you can get this safe (the 20% discount helped a lot). It is constructed very well and I appreciate the backup key so I don't have to live or die by the electronic keypad. The weight is nice and though I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to carry it out of my basement, I have it anchored to the wall just in case. It is also anchored to keep it from wanting to tip over when the door is open. This is a great entry level safe and I think it will do a good job keeping my children away from my firearms, as well as keeping visitors from getting too nosy.

Great safe for anyone looking to store their valuables or guns in a safe place, literally! I have it bolted to the wall using some thick dead bolts and a plate for extra security. For the price, this safe can't be beat! I was looking into Sentry safes and Stack-On safes before, I chose this one. It has some cool back up features, that I liked. The doors on this were nice and thick.

I bought this safe on a Harbor Frieght BlowOut Sale


Upon inspection at home I found the key mechanism did not work and I had to take the cover off the door and realign the solenoid with the key mechanism so the lever would push down on the solenoid allowing the unit to be opened with the key. This was not a big deal for me. The unit is not hard to figure out and the inner door cover is not hard to take off. What impressed me is that it is a strong safe for th price and it does work well. After anchoring to the wall I am convinced it will add another layer of protection for my guns, etc. It would not budge after I anchored it. I am happy with it. I would suggest waiting for sale pricing

I've had mine for about 7 months now, no problems, easy to get into. heavy enough to make you think twice about trying to muscle it around. fit perfect in my walk in closet. I want to buy another.
