"Pistol Grip" style grease guns are the ONLY way to go! They sure beat the hell outta any "Lever" style grease gun that basically require 3 hands to operate effectively. Are there better Pistol-Grip style grease guns out there? Of course. I have an Alemite 555-E pistol grip grease gun at work. It is an awesome grease gun, and used to be American made, but alas... 'tis now made in Chyna (yes, it's spelled incorrectly on purpose to avoid the pathetic censorship used for these reviews), like everything else. Anyhow, my Alemite has 2 settings, one for high flow, and one for high pressure. It also cost me in the neighborhood of sixty-five buckaroos. I know you can get them for around fifty buckaroos now, if you do some searching online. However, for the average Joe - for only fifteen buckaroos, you really can't go wrong with the Central Pneumatic economy grade grease gun from Harbor Freight.Ok, with that said...Grease Gun 101: (EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS!!!)Any person that is having problems with these (or nearly any) grease guns is typically having a problem because they do not know how to use a grease gun. It's called IGNORANCE folks, and people everywhere are guilty of it in some form. (People don't know what the heck they are doing, so they just blame the product instead of educating themselves on how to use it.)The snap coupler on the end of the hose is SUPPOSED to stay on the fitting when you pump grease into the zerk! If it gets "stuck" when you go to remove it from the fitting, it's because the coupler itself is screwed too tightly together to begin with. All grease gun end couplers have a threaded TWO-PIECE body and is supposed to be left a little loose so that the coupler can "snap" onto the zerk and hold on to it when putting grease through it. If you cannot release the coupler from the fitting, unscrew the two halves of the end coupler some to allow the "ramps" inside the coupler to relax some of the pressure on the 3 or 4 internal ramp ears of the coupler. In addition, the bleeding procedure is simple, but most people don't understand it either. When installing a new grease cartridge into the gun, pull back the plunger and retain it. Remove the plastic end cap from the new grease cartridge and install the cartridge into the gun body. Now remove the metal end seal. Next, screw the body of the gun back to the pump/handle head until it LIGHTLY contacts the rubber seal in the head. That's right, you heard me correctly - DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BODY TO THE PUMP HEAD! I repeat... DO NOT TIGHTEN THE BODY TO THE PUMP HEAD. Especially, DON'T EVER OVERTIGHTEN or cross-thread THE cartridge BODY TO THE CAST ALUMINUM PUMP HEAD! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH folks!!! Now, release the plunger back into the body of the grease gun, and push the plunger rod fully back into the body of the cartridge. If the rod doesn't slide back in easily, rotate the "T" handle of the plunger rod a little and it will uncatch from the inner plunger ram and then it will slide right in. Next, with the grease gun hose over a trash can (or wherever you'd like to expend a little grease waste), pump the gun until grease starts flowing and any trapped air should purge out. Typically 5 to 10 full pumps will do the trick. You will likely hear some trapped AIR purge out as well. If you aren't getting any grease from the end of the gun, or it doesn't seem to be building pressure once greasing a fitting, unscrew the body of the grease gun just a little bit, say about 1/8 of a turn or so. Now, pull the plunger back out and shove it in a couple of times. This will force grease back up towards the head of the grease gun, and any air that is trapped should seep/weep from around the threads of the body where it screws into the pump head. Now pump the grease gun again, with the coupler NOT snapped onto a zerk fitting, over a garbage can is usually best (as previously described). With my grease guns, I typically leave the pump head just slightly loose on the cartridge body all of the time. All of my grease guns work flawlessly, and I can guarantee you that I grease more equipment in a day than most of you do in several years.Folks... just use your heads. Operating a grease gun isn't rocket science. Just simple physics.Happy Greasing! 07/01/2012

This is a very economical grease gun. It works well and allows you a free hand. I had no problems with the zerk coupler and so far no leaking around the piston. Do lubricate the moving parts (piston/pivots) before loading and clean out any stray metal flashing or grit from the upper casting. It did weep at the casting's pipe-thread fittings and prompted me to seal them with plumber's teflon tape. This stopped the leaking except at the plunger end. So either you store it plunger up or on-side, else put a seal on the plunger end with maybe some auto gasket silicone or a washer. None of my other guns leak at the plunger exit and they're hung plunger down.

Comments about Central Pneumatic Pistol Grip Grease Gun:
I used this to grease up the bearings on my jon boat trailer. I had no problems whatsoever. Slipped it on the Bearing Buddy nipple, squeezed the trigger a few times and I was good to go. Feels and works like a quality product. Great value.

Great Buy

I use this at home to grease my vehicles tie rods and ball joints. It works just fine and I like the fact it has a hose which makes greasing the upped ball joints easier. It does weep so make sure you store it in a plastic bag.

I used this grease gun to lube my new tie rod ends and ball joints on my car and it worked perfectly. Don't forget to loosen the tip after pumping the grease or you may not be able to remove gun from grease nipple.

Have been using 2 of these for over a year now. Absolutely no problems. It is so convenient with the pistol grip. I am going to buy a couple more for spares. Can't beat the price.

Does the job
By Steve K
from Undisclosed
for the money you can't beat this grease gun. As good as more expensive grease guns . The problem with the coupling not releasing from the fitting is easily fixed. The coupling just needs to be loosened so it turns on the end of the hose. If you turn it counter clockwise it will easily release from the zerk fitting.

Good Grease Gun for the Money
By George P
Bought this for boat trailer hub grease Zerk fitting and it works well. There is a nice click when it seats well. Puts a nice amount of grease per squeeze of the handle and easy to use, seems durable enough to use a long time and not many moving parts to break.
Grease gun worked great

This gun worked just fine. Keep the cartridge body unscrewed a little to bleed out the air first. It will give you a workout if you have to push a lot of grease through a couple of trailer hubs. All in all, I am happy with this gun.
