This is not a grommet tool and those are not grommets. This is an eyelet tool and that is what the small metal bits are. This is a great price for this and I wish I had purchased this here first. If you are looking for something more substantial, even in the smallest "0" or "00" size you are looking for double sided grommets and the tools that attach them. Eyelets are great but are not going to hold up well for heavy duty applications.

I told my a inner voice of reason to shut it and bought this EYELET tool (grommets have 2 parts, eyelets one). After using it for about 20 minutes irealise that it was getting harder and harder to put pressure on the eyelets I was squeezing. I didn't have topull out my work lamp and put on my tech inspector glasses to determine the issue. basically, because I don't want to spend much time talking about it, the eyelet tool handles had bent together asI was applying pressure to squeeze the eyelets. it was at a point where even in an open position the to handle grips work so close together that it was impossible to apply any pressure whatsoever to the eyelets. without doing much more investigation I was able to determine that this item is a piece of garbage. I put it with the other garbage. So now I don't have a piece of garbage in my studio. My problem is solved I don't knowwhat to say really to the maker of this other than next time try and use a metal that isn't made out of, oh I don't know play doh

Comments about Pittsburgh Grommet Pliers with 100 Grommets:
I was wondering in my local HF after finding the tool I went in for.I found these and a 100' roll of 3mm wire to help me string a curtain in my basement for when I am woodworking to prevent the dust from getting everywhere. I installed these in a heavy sheet, fire retardant plastic that I can slide out of the way. Grommets and the crimp tool are great. Care has to be take when putting the grommet through the material, but if you take your time it will fit through nicely.Make sure you tool the correct way (the post goes in the side that is already rolled, not the side about to be rolled) as there are no directions and I did it incorrectly on a practice piece and it didn't work right.I had tired the bigger punch grommet set (still have the kit) and it doesn't work as nice as this little set.

Nice small grommet tool

I am using this small grommet tool for a design idea I am working on. This is just perfect for what I need to create some prototypes and test them. I will certainly look for more of these small grommets as I need them and hope they will be available.

Great price on this eyelet tool!! Excellent for adding eyelets to our business swing tags (after a hole punch is used first).

I think it's great
By Kevin
from Undisclosed
I read some of the other reviews and disagree. The tool only needs to be strong enough to crush the grommet. I use a hole punch to prep the material before crimping the grommet into place. I have used these for many things. I made some nice frame loops for my motorcycle. I cut a piece of scrap strap to the desired lenght then attach the ends with a grommet. I can then loop the strap onto any part of my bike frame and the grommet makes a perfect size hole for a bunngie cord to hook in. The grommets also fit great on peg board hangers so I can customize straps to hang things around the shop.

Good tool for the money
By Vanessa
This is a very good tool for the money paid for it the only thing I dislike is that they only give you one side of a gromment set. I'd prefer a complete set of 50 grommets than 100 of one side of the set. Now I need to get out and find the other side of the grommets.

Too tough
By shy shy
from Bozeman, MT
The pliers are a little too tough to squeeze. I had to wrap a towel around the pliers before trying again because my hands were sore from squeezing bare handed
Not easy to use
By StringGoddess

I don't have great hand strength and was unable to exert enough pressure to clinch the grommets. Longer handles would give better leverage.Going to give this to a friend and look into another one elsewhere.
