No guesstimating, just place device snugly in angle and lock down. While building handrails I was able to transfer angles to the miter saw without reading the scale.
No slop in rivots, if it is good plastic it may be very durable. I suggest not leaving it in the sun or lubricating it.

I used this to measure the wall angles when installing crown molding. This worked very well. You know wall angles are not always exactly 90 degrees. After getting the readings I was able to set the correct angle settings on my compound miter saw for perfect crown molding corners.

One review I found on the web said, "don't throw away the card with the instructions". Sadly, Harbor Freight's version of this item doesn't HAVE any instructions. Nil.

Nice little tool, seems it has ALL kinds of functions & applications. But I've spent over an hour feeling like a chimpanzee turning it over and around. Of 5 scales, I can only figure out one (basic inside & outside angles). Guess that's enough?

Nice little tool, good price, but once again Harbor Freight has dropped the ball.

I use this to set the angle of the compound slide when cutting threads on the mini-lathe, and to set the miter on the tool grinder (HF # 46727) when grinding HSS lathe tools.





Be careful not to lose the package it comes in, as the directions for how to read the angles are on the back. You don't want to lose the packaging and then go to use this 6 months later, as you may be scratching your head for awhile until you figure out which angles you should be reading. Don't ask how I know this. :-)





Used with care and double checked against known accurate tooling, I have found this to be as useful as any other low cost angle finder. Works.
