Fantastic box with excellent build quality. You can add a ton of extra storage at a great price to your existing U.S. General Cabinet.

HOWEVER...

The first one I ordered came in completely damaged. It actually looked like it fell off the truck. HF sent me a RA# (after several calls requesting it) and I returned it for a replacement. 2 weeks after HF had received the damaged chest, my replacement STILL had not shipped out! Therefore, I cancelled the replacement and requested a refund.

I was told my refund it would be granted in 24 - 48 hrs. I then drove the hour to my "local" HF store and purchased a new cabinet. 10 days later, a replacement cabinet came. Now I have sent that one back to HF and have spent the last MONTH trying to get my REFUND.

* I will never order something this large from HF again. It has been a complete PITA. *

Great cabinet though - No complaints at all about the product.

again this store the store people go out of their ways to help out. More so when they see the buyer has a handicap. they checked all the shipping boxes and picked out one with the least damage, which lead to a perfect box. Loaded it into my truck.
while the sale tax would apply even to a shipped item, gas to the store and back is less then shipping, it is 100% worth the drive to the store

again grease the draw slides before use. it helps big time.

NOW IF HF TOOLS WOULD PLACE A STORE IN SUSSEX COUNTY IT WOULD GREAT ALL AROUND

With a little modification I added this to my HF tool cart. I added casters to the bottom, and drilled holes in the cart to match the ones in the side cabinet, then bolted it all up. This simple arrangement solved 2 problems for me: Storage, my cart was getting far too full. I dont like having tools stacked on top of one another in a drawer if I can avoid it. And workspace, the top of the side cabinet adds some much needed and sought after portable table space. I work in a 6 bay shop, and there are only 3 tables. They're large steel tables, but they are stationary at the front and down one side of the shop. Having not only the inside top of the cart but the top of the side cabinet to work on is a huge blessing. It's perfect for doing brake hardware or quick access to currently used tools, or other smaller more precision based work. IT'S NOT FOR HAMMERING. If you want to keep your box nice, I dont suggest adding a grinder or bench vise, but it is still plenty sturdy for most tabletop type jobs. I'd even say theres enough room to rebuild a carbuerator or something of that nature.
The only con I can think of is more because of HOW i use the cabinet than its design. If it was a stationary unit attached to a lower cabinet, as it is designed to be, there wouldnt be a single complaint from me. Because I added it to an already 120 lb cart, the 100 lbs it weighs really adds some heft to my cart. But its capacity and workspace more than make up for the weight. Overall, for 1/2 the price of the big brands, it's worth every penny and then some.

I purchased the top, bottom and side pieces . A Great buy for a self home mechanic . I feel that all pieces are superior and feel that this side piece compliments the top and bottom , (a must have ) . Great quality for a great price !

Wife bought me the 42 inch side cabinet for the other left side of my box, making the right side look awfully bare. I needed drawer space, more than anything, but it's also nice having a litle extra "bench height" space available as well.

My 20 Y.O C*a*t*m*n box was the most bang for the buck in it's day, but if I were to buy a completely new box today, I'd be purchasing the bottom and top box these new cabinets were intended for.

The drawers in this new 7 drawer side cabinet work so much nicer than those of my main box, thanks to the ball bearing slides. The construction of this cabinet, like the 42 inch side cabinet, is of a heavier gauge steel than my main box.

The depth and height of drawers in this 7 drawer side cabinet were the perfect compliment to my main box which had it's drawers overstuffed with dissimilar tools. I don't have to dig through any of my drawers anymore as every type of tool has it's proper place.

As I mentioned earlier, I've attached these cabinets to a non-HF main box and am more than pleased with the result, but if I were in the market for a new main box today, it would be the HF bottom and top that these cabinets were intended for.

That said, both HF side cabinets were integrated with my non HF box with little adaptation. Both side cabinets are the precise depth of my old box. This cabinet would have been complete by just squeezing the folded lip of the old bottom box, drilling a couple holes in both and adding some 1/4 inch screws, nuts, and spacers to keep the gap parallel all the way down. Unfortunately, I couln't allow the 1 5/8 inch difference between my old bottom box and this one go, so I had to cut, weld, paint, and mount some angle iron to fill the void.

The 42 inch cabinet required a bit more. It too had a 1 5/8's discrepency, but had to be addressed by dropping the cabinet parallel to the bottom of my old box, then raising the top box with some square tobuing corners and sides I'd cut, welded, and painted to match. Since I was dropping the 42 inch cabinet to match the bottom edge of my original box, I decided to measure and cut the 3 rectangular slots so that the hanger portion of the new cabinet would actually side in to my old bottom cabinet, then drop to become parallel with the bottom. The sheer weight of that cabinet, what would be put in it, and the fact that the hangers would be held only by a single thin layer of steel on the old cabinet required additional 1/4 inch screws, nuts and spacers.

Since I didn't want to drill any holes that might one day be exposed in my shiny new 7 drawer side cabinet, my M*C screwdriver/prybar box that was mounted to the right side of my bottom box found a new home on the 42 inch HF side cabinet. That cabinet had holes already for relocating the HF roller cabinet handle. Yes, you read right. I drilled additional holes in my overpiced prybar box to avoid drilling in my ne HF cabinets :)

I've got roughly 4 hours invested in fully integrating these cabinets with my non HF toolbox. Were I still using this box in a garage and making my money that way, I wouldn't have been able to take the time to set these things up as I have, but at home, I can do a little at a time in between everything else, without losing money. It's more important that it looks great in my garage, than my bosses.

I bought this side box last Friday 1/18/2013 and put it on my 42 inch box today and it not only looks good but it's durable and not only that. But now my tool box isn't so unorganized. I have more tools then anything and have it all filled up so I'm looking to buy the top and other side has soon has I can afford it. It's all around a great piece to have around in the industrial and just nice to have in your garage.

Bought this after buying the main unit. I was so impressed with it, I had to "expand" to hold all of my tools. I got rid of my C******** Cabinets with hard to pull drawers.

Our shop does race and street rod fabrication and our tools are used hevily every day. We use the 44" cabinet and 2 of these cabinets that hang off of each end for air and electric tools storage. The drawers are heavily loaded and glide open and closed very smoothly. Could not find a competitor's cabinet that even came close to the price OR quality. Have definitely recommended this product to my friends.

The cabinet itself is great. That's why the 5 stars. The problem was that I received the cabinet with the bottom totally smashed in. I called HF and talked to someone that barely spoke English. I explained the situation and let her know that I was going to return it to the store. She said I couldn't do that. I mentioned that the web site said I can. She said that was old and needed updating. REALLY???!!!! She then put me on indefinite hold, at which point I hung up. Tomorrow I will return it to the store and see what happens. I'm guessing I'll get better service there.
