We toss the transducer over the side of the boat while docked. When the screen shows fish, we drop our lines and pull them in. Our record for specks this season is 22 fish in 1 1/2 hours.

Our dock area is usually 9 to 12 feet deep. The position of the fish shows how far down to drop the line. Great little fishing helper. GET ONE!!

This little unit is ideal for the average fisherperson: Price is reasonable. Very compact in size, simple to use and the screen is easy to read. I've used mine for over 3 years and will replace it with another when this one craters. I highly recommend this little Fish Finder.

When the water depth is deeper than 24 feet it reads 99 feet. I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. It does the same thing. I don't know if I am doing something wrong. The directions are not very helpful and don't trouble shoot this problem. Don't know if I am doing something wrong or is there is a problem with the design??

I bought this item thinking that it would be decent little finder for the price. I finally took it out today, and I tried it in several locations on a local reservoir. The only places I could get an accurate depth reading SOME of the time was in water depth of 25 feet or less -- more often than not, it didn't even work in the shallow water (another reviewer basically had the exact same problem). It says up to 99 feet... WRONG. I manually measured the depth in several spots on the reservoir that were between 40 and 60 feet (yes, I measured the old fashioned way with some fishing line and a sinker) and the finder kept reading 99 feet, then 2 feet, then 99, then 2, and so on.

Also, by brother was fishing 15 feet away at a depth of 20 feet (well within the 45 degree cone the unit claims to have) and he caught a fish and the finder didn't even detect it.

Piece. Of. Garbage.

If you value your own time at all, don't buy this product because you will end up returning it.

I have had good luck with many other Harbor Freight items, and I will still shop there often, but I strongly recommend avoiding this particular item.

Downloaded the instructions and followed them. Unit would not show actual water depth, bottom or passing fish no matter what settings I tried. Alternated between showing two feet deep and 99 feet deep. Useless.
