Just finished converting three old worthless B & D cordless batteries by removing the internal battery cells & replacing the H.F. cells into the B & D plastic housings.
Plan on adding short extensions to both positive & negative wires. I drilled holes & soldered the new wires to the old B & D terminals.
The cells fit perfect...you may have to remove a plastic spacer in the B & D case to accomodate the extra height of the #68860 cells which are rated at 1.5 mili-amp hours. Time required is about 20 minutes/unit.
Sure beats the excessive prices of B & D replacement batteries.

I've been using this battery on my boat now for over a year. And in the winter your boat is up on Jacks after servicing and this whole 18V set really makes me boatwright.
If you check, they got the newer 18V set with the battery monitor. From reading the reviews,I've concluded, I do that same thing, walk away from the battery and it cooks over the Warranted limit, 5 hours. So if there's a problem with this product, its probably You.

To make this work in a B&D FS180BX 18 volt pack.
Lay both out side by side,terminal end towards you, using a #10 Torx bit remove the screws in the B&D, lift top off pay attention to the latch spring in back. Take top off HF67029 with #1 Phillips bit, remove side latches, lift entire pack out of B&D and lower HF pack back in it's place, fits perfect. Bend the left front HF pack tab back over itself to clear side. Now CAREFULLY slide the electrical terminals out of the B&D and tape one so they won't touch, now CAREFULLY slide the left (+)HF terminal in the left B&D connector, now do the same for the right (-)terminal except it goes in the slot beside the other terminal NOT spaced one over like it is in the HF one.(terminals are actually the same in both just in different slots and mechanism)put latch on spring in back and re-assemble the top with the torx screws. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LET THE TERMINALS TOUCH AT ANY TIME OR THEY WILL SHORT AND BATTERIES COULD CATCH FIRE. Dispose of old batteries properly and pitch the HF case, this beats B&D's price 3 times over.

Be good to this battery and it will be good to you. I rotate a few of these batteries for an impact driver and drill and I've been having great results with these batteries for a little over 2 years.

I try to let the batteries cool before charging them and never charge each for more than 2 to 3.5 hours. Also, I try to charge them when I think they are nearly empty.

And, when these go bad, I can simply buy two more batteries for the cost of one big name brand!

I had a B&D firestorm powertool set and the batteries recently died. Looking at one of the reviews here, I tried replacing the cells and it worked like magic. No soldering reqd. Be careful dismantling/touching the ends. You just have to use the terminal housing/clip from the original battery. I charged it in the original B&D charger for 7hrs. The power is fantastic and even after using it on a circular saw for some heavy wood cutting, it did not lose charge. Great replacement for [$] instead of the $38 for the original.

I substitute this battery's cells into old B&D Firestorm battery packs when they die off (OEMs are expensive to replace). So far, so good. Decent power, though I believe at 1.3 Amp-hours this is a little wimpier than the Firestorm 1.5 A/hr stock battery. It's not that noticeable, though, and I drive a ton of long screws into hardwood on a charge. HF's onto this frequent swap, however, and that's probably why they keep raising their prices. A year ago it cost less than $10. Three months ago the price was [$]. Today it is [$] (a 33% increase!!). Using online discount codes, I got 20% off so the price went down to [$]. With tax and shipping, still cheaper than OEM at 25 frogskins, but not as cheap as it used to be!! Charges fine, decent power and stamina for medium-duty ranch/house work, hoping for a good lifespan. First swapout still strong at 3 months, but that doesn't mean much. So far, so good.

SO I got one of these to use with my Drill Master Impact Driver. After having read the other reviews about how they share a footprint with B&D 18v batteries, I made a comparison with the B&D 18v pack I have for a hedge trimmer. Indeed, the shape and dimensions are more or less identical. The DM pack has the locking mechanisms on the side, where the B&D has a single one on the back. Also, the +/- pins are in different locations in the terminal block. I bet that'd be a simple fix if you opened it up. The DM is notably lighter. Not sure if it's a cheaper shell or fewer/lighter cells.

Anyhow, battery life seems to be good. Very good for the price. I guess I'll see how it holds up over time. I may also look into modding a couple to use with my B&D tools, since they're so inexpensive.
