I am getting showered and headed to HF to buy the 10 amp Variable spd. SDS Rotary hammer with some SDS bits and of course like all you guys I read all the reviews, well most. And I thought I'd mention that this morning while reading, a fella mentioned about greasing the SDS bits so they don't get stuck in the chuck like the one fella here mentioned. I am retired now, but used to install rotary lifts for repair shops, the ones that lift your car up, and I had a 90 lb jack and I always greased the chisels before inserting them into the hammer because those would get REALLY stuck if you didn't, so what I'm saying was that since I have never actually owned a punny SDS Rotary hammer like this 10 amp, what this other fella mentioned made a lot of since and really does now that I read this review about that bit getting stuck. Ok, off to the store and buy me some tools, yahoo, heck I buy tools, get home and realize I already have it so I give it to the neighbood youngsters as they are always coming over to see what car I'm building now and by giving them some tools now and then, when I need me some of that young muscle they kinda owe me, you think??, well I think I'm fairly clever and they haven't caught on yet.. LOL

These bits are not the best out there I'm sure, but considering the price they are great. They worked fine for me when I had to drill holes in a concrete wall with a cheap (as in price, not necessarily quality) SDS rotary hammer drill and they worked fine. I'm sure name brand bits are better but I am not a professional and these bits were more then fine for what I needed.

After taking initial purchase back got home and was surprised how well the bits cut through hard foundation concrete.

I used these bits to drill through brick and mortar and they did just fine. The only down side was that they stuck in the SDS chuck and could not be pulled out by hand. I finally had to clamp the bit in a bench vise and jerk back on the drill. However, for the price they can't be beat.

Used 1/2" bits to drill several holes in concrete for deck anchor bolts. Compared to similar Bosch brand bit, the HF bit had a noticeable wobble and did not cut as quickly or as cleanly. Since I was using expanding bolts I didn't need to be too precise. The HF set is a good value and will do in a pinch as long as you know its limits. The one name-brand bit itself cost more than twice as much as the entire HF set.
