6010 is a DC rod . 6011 has very similar properties though it is designed to run on both ac/dc current. Again 6010's are a DC rod most commonly used in pipe welding root pass.

I've been contractor for several beverage and petrochemical plants for 10 years. I purchased one of this welders 3 years ago, when I started to weld Stainles steel Sch 5, mostly because of the capacity to weld in low amps. It's an excellent TIG welder, and excellent arc welder too, the only problem I've seen is the torch, which in heavy duty gets really hot, and it bends and breaks after a few months of use. I have 8 welders like this now, and all are in heavy use welding stainless and carbon steel from sch. 5 to sch. 80 without problem (except for the torch).

I like this little welder, it can use 1/8 inch sticks no problem! For the home hobbyist to the professional it is a very good product and I highly recommend to anyone that wants a powerful welder in a small package. Outperforms smaller harbor frieght inverter welder by a long-shot.Do yourself a favor if you want superior weld quality and good penetration get this one!

welding aluminum on this machine requires using stick rod with flux for aluminum.

this is very basic welding training. you cannot use a dc tig welding for welding aluminum without flux.

this welding machine is a good small portable machine for doing under 1/4" steel and stainless.

For the small amount of money it costs,this is a great tool.As mentioned,improvements could be made at a price.However with practice it performs remarkably well.Very simple and reliable,great around the garage .

The 5 stars are a "for the money" rating.


Sure, you can spend more and get more features, but for the money, this is a bargain, at 219.99 minus 20% about 176.00.


I ran 1/8 6011 and 3/32 6013 for about 3 hours, never taking any special care to rest the machine -- just weld, chip, admire and weld some more.





Very predictable, never under strain, and had plenty of horsepower left.





I also ran some TIG on 1/8" stuff and on some .8mm 4130 bicycle tubing. (about .030")


Didn't blow thru, but did sag in quite a bit. I will try again with 045 tig wire, and I believe I will be OK.





Buy it.

This welder provides very good power, more than enough to strike an arc, not sure why others have problems, however Heliarc welding is not an easy thing to master. the duty cycle was more than enough for around the house and garage tasks, would buy a bigger machine for welding everyday or bigger jobs requiring thicker welds particularly untilizing filler rods such as 1/8 7018 rods for extended periods of time. all in all great machine to have around the house that really adds capability to your garage. hope this was helful.

I have been a professional aerospace tig welder for over 30 years, for the price you cannot go wrong with this machine. I have welded 4130 1.5 120wall round tubing no problem. If it had a gas valve and a foot pedal it would really be something. You have to be aware to turn the gas valve on the wp-17 tig torch and you can buy torch parts at any welding supply store. Took the cover off and I feel it is a very well built inverter machine, all wires are secure. Any non believer in this machine has probably not tried it. I would recommend this machine to anyone that wants to weld any kind of steel. This is not designed for aluminum, but for the price what do you expect? With the optional 2 year extended replacement warranty you cannot go wrong!!

After buying a reconditioned flux core 110v welder about 7-8 years back, and deciding I wanted to try stick welding I bought the 110v harbor freight inverter welder. I was really pleased with how compact and lightweight it was, and I used it to fabricate a bunch of things for several old trucks. I built a grille guard, swing away spare tire carrier, several battery trays, Jerry can holders. After having good success with the 110v model, I decided that the higher amp capacity of the 240v model would be useful. So far I've used this one to build a receiver hitch mount for a 55 lb anvil, and to make a bumper mount for a truck crane. It appears to be of good quality, and I'm pleased with it's ease of use

I have been a hobby welder for a few years, and mainly been using a flux cord mig, bought this to learn tig, and was a little disappointed at first, that it will only scratch start with the tig torch, got some copper stock and problem solved. The welder was easily upgraded with a foot pedal, and it works fantastic. the torch is a descent quality air cooled wp17 clone with gas valve.
It's a great little home/shop welder.
