Granted, the assemble instructions are a 4 on a 10 point scale, however, if you can't assemble this in 20 min., retake high school shop. I'll grant that the "supports" aren't the strongest, so don't use it as a leaning post. The felt liner is only rated at 5 microns ... they tell you this up front. So why do I still give this 5 stars? ... Read on!

Having said all this ... look at the price! I added a WynnEnv 1 micron cartridge. Even with the additional expense it's still half the price of any comparable unit.

I've been using this for almost 2 years and have yet to find a tool that this won't "clean out".

I'm running 14" Band Saw, a 10" Tablesaw with an enclosed bottom, Router in table with two point dust extraction, Lathe with dust hood, a down draft table and a plethera of power tools with appropriate blast gates (that's the key).

So, If you have an extra $600 in your pocket (I know I don't!) buy one of the "Big Boys". Otherwise do what you do when you need a jig or tool around the shop and can't afford, or don't want to pay for, the high price alternative ... "fix the alternative and still stay WAY under budget!"

I got this primarily for my Wood Master 48 inch drum sander, table saw, and band saw. So far it is doing a great job. I am impressed by the heavy metal fan, I was expecting plastic at this price.
If the motor lasts this will be one heck of a deal considering the cost of a name brand with the same power.

For the price point, this is a very good product.
Unit does its job, and the noise is not that bad compared to my other tools running, besides if you are wearing ear protection, the noise does not matter.

Do not look at the assembly instructions for this unit, totally useless. Had to look at the box to figure out what to do and then it was hit and miss with the screws/bolts. Hint: 12 screws and washers for the casters, then the other screws will screw into their respective holes. On the lower bag have plenty of tape to hold it into place so that you can get the metals belt around the bag.

Otherwise a very good choice, with plenty of suction.

I agree with Vic and others, there isn't much this little thingie can't handle. Cabinet saw, no problem. 12 inch Planer, same same. 6 inch Jointer, 6X48 flat belt, Compound Miter saw, nada. Moderate sized Drum sander, no problem-o. Don't expect this rig to evacuate a 52 inch double widebelt sander though, but for most small shop cabinet men, chair makers and Burl Workers this will execute without hesitation. I've got mine in a room adjacent to my shop running through a bulkhead fitting; all you hear is the quiet screaming of the sawdust as it is slurped off to the Great Beyond. A Metal trash can will fit nicely under the bag within the frame, which eases the unloading of poor, dead tree powder and other assorted shop waste. Don't think you can run a 100 foot hose from your shop to your neighbor's basement though; any DC system can only handle X amount of hose, especially if it is corrugated or has numerous 180' turns. All in all, very pleased with this item, it can run with the big dogs all day long (going on 6 years)as long as you keep good ductwork and hoses in the equation and mind your housekeeping regarding the top bags cleanliness.

I was suspicious of a dust collector that costs about 1/3 of other brands. I was wrong. The only thing I regret is not getting one sooner. Yea, the directions lack a little but it is pretty simple to put together. I suppose the cost savings is in the plastic impeller but it works very well, it is powerful and fairly quiet. I suppose if the impeller did not last it would be fairly cheep and easy to replace. I have the dust collector attached to 35' of 4" plastic pipe and I use 6 blast gates. I use it on a contarctor style table saw, a 13" planer, a router table, a disk sander along with other smaller stuff and it does a good job on them all. This machine seems to be well made and I can't for the life of me see any reason to spend more money on a name brand when this one does a great job.

This dust collection system is a great deal. It's plenty powerful and is comparable to name brand dust collection systems. Some people complain in other reviews of having to put it together. To me, that's half the fun of owning the system. The only problem is the difficulty of clamping the lower dust bag to the collector. All in all, this is one heck of a deal and I'd reccomend it to anyone

Bought for [$] on sale.I use a yellow remote from Rockler and it worksfine,even though it's rated for 1 1/2 hp.After one years use, no complaints at all.Certainly beats a shopvac system

This was pruchased to replace a 1/2 HP Jet dust collector that had faithfully served me for over three years. I had progressed to tools that simply overwhelmed the little guy and choked it up. I bought this because of the price and availablility. It was so easy to assemble that, had my doxies been bigger, they could have easily done it! It handles all of my shop's tools without missing a beat. I added Rockler's Dustrite expansion hos and vacuum attachements as well as hoses and porting to attach all my wood pukers and it handles them all very well. If I had anything to complain about this unit would be the felt filter. It is adequate, but I would have preferred a canister filter instead. I do, however, understand that this would probably add another ~$100-$200 to the price. Otherwise, I and extatic about this unit. Oh, one last thing: it does not draw quite as much amperage as the specs say it does. I run it through a 15 amp remote switch without narry a hiccup--manual says it draws 20 amps.

When comparing dust collectors i realized that this unit is identical to the Rikon but at half the price. even the exploded parts diagram have the same part numbers on them. that makes it so you can replace the upper bag with the Rikon canister which will get you down to 2-3 microns and that parts are easily available from their web site.
