Too much pressure, or running the tool too fast will clog the sand paper quickly and melt the glue holding the hook and loop to the pad. Cuts faster towards the center of the pad.

I had the same issue many other have with both this small finger and the larger triangle sander, the hook & loop is weak and cannot take the heat generated from sanding.

I decided to try attaching my own industrial strength "hook" Vel**o to the sanding pad. I bought a roll and cut my own "hook" pad and super glued it to the finger pad. Big improvement, not perfect but way better. Next I want to buy bulk hook & loop sanding sheets and cut my own sanding fingers. I believe their "loop" is stronger than the OEM. The heat generated & the weak OEM hook & loop system seem to be the culpripts.

I like the tool very much, and no other issues, although I do wear gloves because the head gets hot in extended use. I would recommend the abrasive finger sander for heavy stock removal then transition to the sanding pad - the sanding pad is definitely light duty, that abrasive finger can sand anything.

My recommendation of the sanding finger is contingent on the modifications I outlined. As it comes OEM, not recommended.

Harbor Freight is known for low prices. Their oscillating tools are great and I own two of them. I never expected them to work so well. But this finger pad is junk. It will fall apart quickly, barely holding up for the sparse number of papers included. And even if it's usable for the last few pieces of sandpaper, it won't be intact.

There are third party replacements that give you FAR more for the money and better quality too. Usually it's HF that has the third party discount replacement. In this case they are overpriced and the quality doesn't hold up. Is it really worth that much for a few pieces of sandpaper stamped out of a fraction of a small sheet? Is this flimsy holder worth more than a breaker bar sold at the same price? I don't think so.

Don't buy. The adhesive on the sanding pad detaches, and renders being useless. Also it can't stand the heat and it melts the Velcro on the tool itself.

Falls apart first time used.

Don't buy this. The sanding pad falls off as soon as you turn the tool on. You might be able to use the metal part off the tool to pick your toenails, but that's about it.
