I bought this for a great price and used a gift certificate and even without all those things this Lathe is worth every penny. I wans't sure how often i would use this but now i find myself in my garage using it almost every week at least one day sometimes 2 depending on the project.. It has almost paid for itself considering i would have to buy all the stuff that i made with it. I would recommend this one to anyone on a budget. But if you can afford one of the larger ones than go with that too.. As i am finding the only thing holding me back now is the bed size.

I give it 5 stars because it's pretty accurate and priced well. I'm turning aluminum and the motor has no problem holding the rpm even when I cut way too much. It's quiet and doesn't vibrate. Glad I bought it.

I have spent years wanting to buy a small lathe, but they were all too big, or too expensive for what I needed it for. One day I found a sale ad in my email for 20% off on any purchase over $100.00 from Harbor Freight. I had seen the Harbor Freight 7X10" Mini Lathe on you tube, and I had seen it in several videos, that peaked my interest, but how could any power tool that cost so little be any good? Well with 20% off and already on sale with a satifaction guarantee, how could I go wrong. I took the plunge and bought one sight unseen from their on line shopping store and with reduced FEDEX shipping and no sale tax, I got it for less then if I had bought it locally. I couldn't wait for it to arrive and boy was I surprised when it showed up so quickly, even ahead of the projected date of delivery. I have had it now for about 3 months and I have learned one bad thing about it, and that was why did I wait so long to buy it? This little machine is probably the best bargain hands down in any power tool you can imagine. 90 pounds of Dynamite. With a few simple accessories, you can do most anything with it, if it fits. No problem for me I build model steam engines. It will turn drill or face any metal I have thrown at it, and it does it with great percision. A little careful adjustment and alignment and it will rival any of the bigger name brand much more expensive hobby lathes sold. I can't see any reason it should not last for years, if maintained and cleaned as it should be. It allows one to buy other tools for it that you may not even be able to afford if you paid a small fortune for the base machine as in the more exspensive brands. Bottom line is it is not only affordable, but also a quality product, that anyone who would buy it would be proud to own. Like my Review Title reflects I Love Mine ! If you are considering buying one of these rest easy you will like what you get and soon learn to love it.

This is a very good lathe for the price. Chances are, you will end up having to repair and tweak some stuff. I have had one of these for a few years and have run it quite hard. As a matter of fact, I have worn it out a few times and had to scrape it back in. Every machine shop should have one of these. It is good for all the tasks with which you would not want to tie up your shop's big lathe (creating oddball drift punches, resurfacing thrust bushings, making tooling for the hydraulic press, making parts for your broken equipment). For that matter, its a reasonably accurate machine. You just have to be wary of the metric to standard conversion issue with the leadscrews on the compound and cross slide. I have got bearing diameters within 0.0002" with this machine by lapping the work to the finished diameter. Quality work is possible on this lathe. You just need to be a good machinist to accomplish it. Don't think of this as a main lathe for a shop. It's a secondary machine that you can stuff off in a corner somewhere. If you are making something small, don't go tie up your 4000lb behemoth lathe. Go use the small one.

Bought this to make miniature steam equipment. For the cheapness,size and durability. I marked powerful due to the compact size and 3/4 hp motor. Yes this means you can bog it down like any other lathe due to RPM/feed/diameter of bar stock. just like the bigger lathes. I work with the bigger lathe as a Machinist. I do say comparing to a few other unfortunate customers. The gibs are set just right. There is about 20 thousand for the play to me I see exceptional compared to the lathes at work. I operated lathes with over 200 thousands of play. Yes I suggest using the 20% off cuopon too!!! Also purchase the two year warranty, in which will start at the end of the last day of the free 90 day. Just by chance something goes wrong. I can exchange it for a new one no questions asked!!!

What a great little machine. I've had the one we bought in the shop for over 5 years now and use it all the time. It has all the features you could hope for. I think for the price it's a great buy.

I was shocked at the quality of this little lathe. It needed very few adjustments. Having allot of fun with this machine.

DOES NOT HAVE ANY TOOL BITS SO YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE SOME TO USE THIS TOOL.

Don't buy the tool bits though from HF they are terrible. A 0xa quick change tool post would be a good buy. google 0XA Quick Change Tool Post

I picked up my lathe at the Amherst NH store and the guys where a big help and would highly recomend them.
The Mini Lathe is very nice and worked right out of the crate!
