Originally I used this to kill the occasional house fly but I soon realized my cats hate the loud snapping sound it makes when it zaps a fly. Now when they're doing something wrong all I have to do is show them the swatter and they immediately stop their bad behavior.

I tested one of these at a friend's house who lived in the country by some grass fields, and he had huge flies getting into his house. I pushed the button and swung the racket and BAAM! the horse fly was down on the ground and looked dead. I then used my shoe to make sure it was completely dead immediately. I bought two for our house after this and the whole family loves them as they take the work out of ridding your house of spiders, flying insects, etc... I even got to use them to fry some roaches that came into the garage this last summer. They had no chance when the racket was in use.

As mentioned by another poster, it is easy to modify from 3v to 9v by soldering 9v terminals to the positive & negative leads inside the handle. Haven't had a chance to use on any bugs yet, but the whiplike
k-e-r-r-a-c-k! it made when I dropped a paper clip on it, makes it very promising for a deliciously sadistic bug hunt.

Took this camping and it worked great. Should have bought one for each of the kids. Kept them busy for hours. Worked on eveything out there and the beetles did smoke quite a bit and smelled bad.

This product is wonderful. Bought one a couple years ago only to have my dad fall in love with it so I gave it to him. Finally got me another one and I have had much fun with it. I did find that it only stunned the bugs though and needed more power. With two cheap D batteries it puts out around 550-600v DC. After reviewing internal components specifications I found that the parts can handle more input so I soldered a nine volt clip (from local electronic store) onto the corresponding terminals. With a cheap battery it produces a respectable 900+vDC. First bug I hit with it after the mod exploded (r.i.p moth)! Plus, the wieght of the item was drastically reduced. (Warning: modding of this product produces dangerous voltage and voids any manufacture and/or store warranty. Mod at your own risk)!

Like a few others here, I bought this as a joke gift for a relative. Once I got home with it, I read the reviews and was shocked at how many people love these things. Relative reported having fun zapping bugs with it, so I later bought one for myself. They really work. I find myself now hoping to find bugs to zap with it.

Fantastic and hours of fun on camping trips. Sitting around a campfire at dusk and zapping bugs is one of the most fun things we do :-) I've had mine for about 4 years now and they're still running strong. I just bought two more for an expanding family.
